Who you are
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Proven track record (12+ years) of related experience and are recognized as a strategic problem solver in internal and external forums, with extensive technical expertise
- Strong proficiency in modern front-end frameworks (such as React, Angular, or Vue.js) and back-end technologies (such as Java, Node.js, Python)
- Expertise in driving technical standards for resiliency, scalability, performance, and maintainability
- Experience with designing and implementing resilient and highly available systems using cloud platforms (like Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (like Docker, Kubernetes)
- Deep understanding of microservices architectures, RESTful APIs, and database technologies (relational and non-relational)
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical challenges, propose innovative solutions, and mitigate risks
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with the VP-level community (executive presence)
- Proven experience in mentoring and guiding engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
- Demonstrated ability to drive technical direction, make critical decisions, and have a lasting impact on the organization's technology roadmap
What the job involves
- Drive technical leadership and influence by setting standards and best practices for resiliency, scalability, and performance within the customer support technology domain
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, reliable, and efficient full-stack solutions
- Define and champion architectural principles, patterns, and methodologies to ensure the delivery of high-quality, maintainable, and extensible software systems
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends and create solutions that can stand the test of time
- Work with PM, engineering, UX and other partners to set product vision and help build roadmaps and goals spanning multiple organizations and teams
- Partner with senior engineers and leadership to guide best practices
- Lead and/or participate in office hours, give talks, and generate documentation and training to grow engineers' skills
- Lead by example, demonstrating hands-on coding expertise and actively participating in the development and review of critical components
- Conduct performance analysis, monitoring, and troubleshooting of production systems, and drive improvements to ensure the highest levels of reliability and availability
- Foster a culture of operational excellence by advocating for robust testing, monitoring, and observability practices, and driving continuous improvements in system performance and stability
