  • Strong research skills who can work both independently and collaboratively with peers
  • Strong research record in the fields of AI and autonomous systems with publications in top-notch venues or journals in the fields of computer vision, machine learning, robotics, etc
  • MSc or PhD in machine learning and computer vision with autonomy and robotics applications or closely related fields
  • Passion for next-generation, scalable autonomy with data-driven, differentiable paradigm and large data/model deployment for real-world autonomous systems

Desirable

  • Hands-on experience in at least one of the following fields with real-world driving data 1) end-to-end/differentiable autonomy stack, 2) multi-view perception based on Transformer with BEV representation and temporal fusion, 3) imitation/reinforcement learning, behavior prediction, 4) traffic simulation and behavior generation, 5) sensory generation with 3D reconstruction, novel view synthesis and generative AI, 6) multi-model foundation model, language incorporation in driving tasks
  • Passion or experiences for large language models, multi-model foundation model, and applications of language modality in driving

What the job involves

  • The AI Research Team at Applied Intuition conducts world-class research for autonomous systems and closed-loop simulation, and creates scalable autonomy stacks from prototype towards mass production in a data-driven fashion
  • You will have access to driving data exploding from millions of miles with various scenarios from a diverse set of sensors to develop industry-leading models and techniques at scale
  • Improvements deployed to our system can immediately help our customers with their autonomy programs
  • In addition to your research contributions, by working in our dynamic and customer-focused team culture, you will contribute to and learn from best practices in the nascent autonomy industry
  • We move fast and we focus on excellence, for our products and for our business
  • Conduct research in a focused area among topics including (but not limited to) differentiable/end-to-end autonomy stack with language modality, multi-modal foundation models, close-loop simulation for sensory and behavior generation with generative AI and novel view synthesis, closed-loop training/refinement of differentiable stack
  • Work closely with other research scientists and intern students in the AI Research team towards high quality research publications on various topics
  • Closely work with and supported by Research Engineers and engineering teams to test and deploy the algorithms created towards industry-leading performance for publications (and products)

Our take

Autonomous vehicles present a lot of challenging problems to engineers, particularly in terms of safety and reliability, and testing and development can be infamously slow. Applied Intuition provides software to run simulations and tests for autonomous vehicles more quickly and effectively, speeding up the development and launch of AVs for multiple industries.

With big companies such as Tesla and Google focused on developing automation, Applied Intuition has the scope to provide the software that makes it a reality. The company’s suite of simulation, validation, and drive log management software aids in the more efficient deployment of autonomous vehicles, with companies such as Toyota, Nissan, and General Motors relying on its solutions.

As the autonomous vehicles market accelerates, Applied Intuition is well set for growth, especially as it continues to expand its capabilities. Notable developments include the acquisitions of CarSim, Scenebox and Embark Trucks, as well as partnerships with AMBA and Valeo. All these efforts seek to bolster the company's offering towards supporting the faster and safer deployment of AVs.
