Role
Who you are
- You are a generalist specialist with a broad knowledge across data, software and system design with one or two areas of deeper knowledge. From data models and data store optimisation to SOLID principles, RESTful API design and React state stores to common system design and programming elements such as microservices, message queues, caching and hashing
- You can program fluently in two or more languages potentially with multiple paradigms, we use C#, Python and Typescript
- You have a track record of implementing cloud services using infrastructure as code and building containerised applications running on an orchestration platform, AWS experience would be helpful
- You have excellent experience of working with security principles understanding standards such as OIDC and practices such those suggested by OWASP
- You are motivated to improve developer experience where possible including advising on CI/CD pipelines, GitOps and Saas tooling
- You have led and owned wide reaching technical initiatives from design to implementation guiding teams and implementing yourself where necessary
- You know how to motivate and coach other engineers to learn new skills and achieve company objectives
- Experience of working in a core team and working on authentication/authorization systems is an advantage and contributing to opensource projects is a nice to have
What the job involves
- Lead the technical design and development of complex software, systems and products – injecting the engineering context, giving both the bigger picture and shaping the details
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers, accelerating their technical growth and setting aspirational standards
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that technical solutions align with business goals and user needs as well as identifying technical risks and proposing solutions to mitigate them
- Apply your extensive technical knowledge to problems across the business proactively identifying and solving pain points in devops, data models, systems design and software architecture
- Driving conversations around technology and bringing teams together to own and manage technical designs and implementations
- Work extensively with core services, data pipelines and multiple data stores. Having extensive knowledge of different data stores is a significant advantage
