Role
Who you are
- Have a minimum of 5 years commercial experience working on back-end systems / APIs
- Have a good knowledge of relational database design and SQL
- Be happy working in an embedded team
- Have experience with Typescript or similar strongly typed languages
- Be a quick learner
- Be delivery focused
- Be a self-starter who can work with ambiguity driving continuous improvement through iteration
- Have lead projects independently, occasionally running small teams
- Be able to craft proposals and achieve consensus
- Be willingness to mentor and share knowledge
Desirable
- Have an interest or experience in Python and networking technologies
- Have experienced setting up CI/CD pipelines and working with one or more public cloud providers (preferably AWS, but also Azure, GCP, etc.)
- Have experienced working in a start-up or scale-up environment
What the job involves
- The Networks team supports Vorboss network engineers and customer support staff to get new customers connected, and to maintain a reliable service. To do this we have developed a suite of internal tools that helps manage network device inventory, network configuration, and configure network devices ready for installation
- This is a highly technical domain working directly with industry experts who build and manage large and complex networks. This role offers an opportunity to learn about networking technologies (previous networking experience is not required). Our challenge as product engineers is to apply our expertise to the process of scaling operations whilst maintaining a top tier customer experience
- As a Senior Product Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering mainly back-end API and internal system integrations as well as some internal facing tools. You will be working as part of an embedded team working directly with network engineers and other internal users. You will help to understand requirements and design our systems architecture

Enterprises need to have increased network capacity to both support the increasing complexity of digitally transformed business infrastructure, and accommodate the growing volume of digital engagement from clients and customers. Vorboss is a UK fibre network company hoping to provide precisely this.
Vorboss’ focus is on enterprise clients, which means the current roll-out of its network in London is a smart move. It’s the digital enterprise hub of the UK, so there’s a substantial market to capture. The only issue is, Vorboss will have to wrestle it from the hands of two major incumbents: Openreach, and Virgin Media’s own cable network.
Vorboss’ focus on enterprise is an exclusive one, however, so unlike these two major competitors it’s possible this new network can cling more closely to enterprise requirements. With its deployment still in progress, Vorboss’ success will remain to be seen - but with the UK in the midst of a fibre transition, it's the right time to be challenging the incumbents.
