What the job involves
- As the Director of Communications at Foodsmart, you will play a critical role in shaping our public relations strategy and enhancing our social media footprint
- You will lead the charge in building and maintaining relationships with key media outlets, particularly within local markets, while developing and executing comprehensive PR campaigns that align with our business objectives
- Your efforts will be instrumental in driving awareness and visibility for our brand, especially within our key hubs
- Build Relationships with Local Media: Identify and prioritize media outlets in key geographies (e.g., Chicago, Arizona), building a robust network of contacts to ensure timely and impactful coverage of our initiatives
- Proactively pitch stories, conduct outreach, and cultivate relationships with media outlets, focusing on newspapers, broadcasts, and other relevant platforms
- Create and Implement Creative PR Strategies: Lead the development and execution of a targeted PR strategy with a strong emphasis on local outreach
- Drive PR efforts to support our community marketing strategy, product launches, and other newsworthy moments, securing media attention before and after these events
- Expand our Social Media Footprint: Strategically develop and manage a social media calendar that supports our B2B and B2C initiatives, highlights company achievements, drives member awareness, and supports dietitian recruitment efforts
- Implement and refine social media strategies that align with our broader communications goals, ensuring consistent and engaging brand messaging
- Own our Talent Brand: Work to evolve our talent brand, with a particular focus on dietitians and technologists. Partner closely with our People Team to identify opportunities to highlight Foodsmart as a leading employer, including building an employee ambassador program

To help with this, Foodsmart supplies meal kits tailored to each customer's nutritional needs and dietary preferences. With registered dieticians consulting and guiding subscriber meal plans, the company has smartly carved a science-first niche in the multi-billion dollar meal plan delivery service market.
With over 1 million users enrolled, Foodsmart has proven popular. It also boasts demonstrated results such as positive weight loss for obese subscribers, and lowered systolic blood pressure for those with hypertension. It continues to be popular with investors too, with its latest fundraise supporting the expansion of operations and its business reach.
