Who you are

Proven experience delivering end-to-end business and technology projects in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
Strong understanding of structured project delivery frameworks and methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall or hybrid approaches
Ability to translate business requirements into detailed, actionable project plans aligned with technical delivery
Effective stakeholder management with the ability to influence and communicate clearly at all levels
Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail

What the job involves

Leading the planning and delivery of business and IT-enabled projects, ensuring alignment to scope, timelines, budget and quality expectations
Developing clear, structured project plans, including milestones, dependencies, resources and deliverables in line with governance standards
Establishing and managing project governance, including stage gates, RAID management and change control
Coordinating cross-functional teams and stakeholders to manage dependencies and enable smooth delivery
Monitoring progress, managing risks and issues, and ensuring timely escalation and mitigation of blockers
Providing clear and concise reporting to sponsors and governance forums to support informed decision-making

Founded in 1817, UK-based Johnson Matthey has built on over 200 years of experience in chemistry and materials to become a world leader in sustainable technologies. It was responsible for scientific milestones such as the first emission control catalyst, greatly reducing vehicle exhaust emissions. From relatively humble beginnings it has since grown into a global business, present in more than 30 countries.

In recent times, the business has struggled with issues related to over-expansion - including an unprofitable battery materials division and inefficient management. However, by reducing its administrative headcount, slimming down to its core business and focusing on emerging green technologies, Johnson Matthey has moved to reduce costs and compete more effectively against major rivals such as Croda and Ceres.

A return to the FTSE 100 in 2022 demonstrated that this response was paying dividends, showcasing the company's ability to adapt its approach when needed. With its core business booming, Johnson Matthey is focusing on research into sustainable catalysts and renewable fuel cell technology which will enable it to contribute further to the green economy.
