- The ideal candidate for the Associate Director of Finance Business Partner position at Wonder possesses a robust background in strategic and operational finance, particularly within the food tech or food delivery sector
- They exhibit strong analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration abilities, and a proven track record of driving process improvements and maximizing profitability across new business units
- Proven track record of identifying and implementing process improvements through the use of financial analysis and insights
- Strong understanding of P&L management and associated KPIs, with the ability to drive profitability and efficiency improvements
- Experience working cross-functionally and collaborating with teams across different departments and business units
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
- Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis, with advanced Excel skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- You excel in building strong partnerships with leaders across diverse business units, leveraging your financial expertise to provide strategic guidance and drive operational efficiency

What the job involves
- As a Finance Business Partner for our Emerging Businesses, you will play a pivotal role in the financial success of our expanding ventures, including our courier delivery business, B2B, and future initiatives
- With a focus on strategic collaboration and operational excellence, you will leverage your expertise in financial analysis and process optimization to empower business leaders, fuel scalable growth, and ensure the sustainable expansion of Wonder
- Strategic Business Partner: Serve as a primary financial advisor and strategic partner to the Heads of Emerging Businesses providing financial insights to drive operational efficiency, revenue growth, and profitability
- Operational Finance Expertise: Utilize a strong background in strategic and operational finance, particularly within the food tech or food delivery sector, to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization, leveraging financial data to drive sustainable business growth
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively across departments and business units to align financial strategies with operational objectives, fostering communication and synergy to achieve shared goals and objectives
- Ownership of P&Ls and KPIs: Take ownership of P&Ls and associated Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for various business units, providing insights into business-line profitability, pricing and fee structures, customer retention, churn, and other key metrics
- Insightful Analysis: Drive insightful analysis of emerging business financial performance, identifying trends, opportunities, and risks to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement
- Collaboration with FP&A Team: Work closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team to provide input and insights for the forecasting and budgeting process, ensuring alignment between operational plans and overall corporate financial objectives
Our take
Food delivered to your door often gets cold and soggy as it travels in a courier's bag from the restaurant to your home. Using Wonder, customers order food from a mobile app, which is cooked in a truck right outside your door. It aims to improve the standard of home-delivered food, both the quality of product – working with world-renowned chefs – and the experience itself.
Wonder has received fair criticism surrounding poor environmental consideration, as each kitchen/van sits idle with the engine running whilst food is prepared. A study by the US Department of Energy found that banning the unnecessary idling of personal vehicles would be the same as taking 5 million vehicles off the roads.
Despite this, Wonder has sustainability strategies involving food sourcing, reducing food waste, sustainable packaging, and, notably, an emissions-neutral fleet. Wonder has received enormous funding, bringing it to a valuation of $7 billion, and the number of vans distributed across North America is expected to multiply exponentially.
