Our take
Mythical creates games and game communities using blockchain. Founded by gaming specialists with years of experience in the industry, Mythical's aim since inception was to create games where players buy and sell in-game assets within a secure marketplace.
The company recently launched its first open-world multiplayer game Blankos Block Party, allowing gamers to play using NFT based characters. Currently available in beta testing mode, the game's unique feature is the ability of the NFT based avatars to gain or lose real-world value. These avatars and other game assets can be bought and sold in the peer-to-peer marketplace. BBP has seen interest from commercial brands such as Burberry and DeadMau5, who have used the game to launch NFT products and reach new customers.
The Mythical games team includes individuals who developed well-known games, such as Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, and World of Warcraft. Building on this knowledge, the company is pioneering next-gen gaming. Mythical has also experimented with play-to-earn concepts that see users rewarded with money for the time spent playing the game. The platform was included in Fast Company's World Changing Ideas list and has attracted over $250 million in investment.
