Role
Who you are
- This position requires a strong foundation in accounting principles and experience with NetSuite, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
- Proficiency in Oracle NetSuite is highly preferred
- Prior experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial reporting tools such as Power BI is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities
What the job involves
- We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting team
- In this role, you will support the accounting department by performing a variety of general accounting tasks to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Perform daily accounting activities, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and analyzing financial transactions in compliance with US GAAP
- Assist with the preparation of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses
- Support the month-end and quarter-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Manage assigned areas of the general ledger, including preparation of supporting documentation and account reconciliations
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial data
- Participate in the annual audit process by preparing necessary schedules and documentation
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations
- Assist with sales and use tax compliance
- Assist with ad hoc projects and analyses as needed, providing support to the finance team and other departments

Many consumers are interested in meat alternatives, but don’t quite feel that an option exists with equally good taste and nutrition. Meati Foods aims to remedy this with their products composed of 95% mycelia, a mushroom root, rather than typical offerings based on soy, pea and wheat protein.
Meati Food's unique mushroom-based products, and highly efficient production techniques (the protein is grown in fermentation tanks in liquid suspension), has led to it being an industry favourite. It has found great success in its direct-to-doorstep online shop, and made its retail debut in summer 2022. The company boasts support from Whole Foods, Sweetgreen, and even the former White House Senior Policy Advisor for Nutrition.
Meati Foods is an an ambitious brand with the goal to be the market share leader, and has found focus in expanding its facilities and reach - including by the opening of its "mega" production facility. As the public continues to become more aware of the benefits of plant-based alternatives, both for their health and that of the planet, an increase in demand for Meati’s innovative products is almost inevitable. Fresh funds will allow it to ramp up production and brand awareness to capitalize on this trend.
