Role
Who you are
- Have had previous experiences in Data Analytics including experience managing a team, ideally in scale-up environments (5-6 years)
- Are seasoned working with SQL, DBT and data visualization tools
- Are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders beyond the data team
- Have a strong business acumen and are seen as a trusted partner by your business stakeholders
- Have strong communication skills and are capable of articulating your ideas clearly
- Are Fluent in English - French is a plus

- By joining us as a Science & Analytics Manager, you will have a pivotal role in large projects, bringing your business sense, your analytical thinking, and your management skills to help us meet our high delivery standards
- As a Science & Analytics Manager, you will take the lead of our Care Analytics team (3-5 people), as part of the Science & Analytics function (15+ people) of our Data department :
- You will grow your analytics team through strategic hiring and resource allocation, while partnering with other managers to create the right environment, processes, and development opportunities for team members to thrive
- You will proactively use data to identify opportunities to improve customer and partner outcomes and our Care processes. You will be a real sparring partner for Care leaders (Partner Success and Customer Success), feed their strategy by anticipating the most important customer and partner questions, and leverage your data and statistical skills to answer them
- You will steer decision‑making through complex analyses, involving uncertainty, potential synergies with other domains, and collaboration with other analytical teams
- You will drive our self-service approach to analytics, by understanding our colleague’s needs in their use of data, and promoting a data driven culture. The Science & Analytics team contributes directly to creating data models in the Data Warehouse (using dbt)
- You will contribute to shaping the Data Engineering roadmap to deliver the best experience for your colleagues on the data platform
- Within one month:
- You will learn everything about our company, our teams, and our vision during the first onboarding week
- You will get to know your team and start taking over people and technical topics
- You will get familiar with our stack, and have delivered a few small projects which will give you a concrete taste of our tools & processes
- You will be given time to meet your future stakeholders, and gain a deep knowledge of our product
- Within 3 months:
- You will be fully in charge of your team
- You will be fully in charge of supporting the Care area, prioritizing your tasks with decision makers from this area
- You will be confortable with our technical stack (Python, Redshift, Athena, dbt)
- Within 6 months:
- You will be involved in cross-team management initiatives
- You will proactively contribute to the team’s roadmap
- You will work with engineers and data practitioners on improving our stack and data platform
- You will share your learnings and best practices within the team
- And beyond: the data team will continue growing with the company

- Responsibilities to design and implement new processes, tools and best practices to make sure that your team works even more efficiently

Our take
In multiple mature markets, companies have been using QuickBooks, Xero and other SaaS solutions for accounting, but it is a fragmented industry with each country using its own software solution. In France, there is no definitive SaaS solution for accounting.
Pennylane wants to overhaul current tools and modernise the tech stack of accounting firms, by connecting directly with third-party services that hold valuable information. Accounting firms can use Pennylane collaboratively by accessing the platform to centralise receipts, create invoices and automate tasks. Instead of sending information back and forth with spreadsheets and photo attachments, both clients and accounting firms can interact directly on the platform.
Pennylane has a significant market opportunity ahead, with an ambitious goal to become the preferred management platform for European companies. The company already claims 50,000 customers. A recent instalment of funding will allow the company to further develop its platform, looking at artificial intelligence for accountants, and expand to other markets in Europe.
