Who you are
- 4-8 years of software development experience with two or more general purpose programming languages including, but not limited to, Java and Python
- Great problem solving abilities
- Interest in AI technologies
- Working proficiency in English
- Must have 4 years experience with Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ, BigQuery or Hive, and both SQL and NoSQL datastores
- 2 years of experience architecting data systems
- Prefer experience with Apache Hadoop/Spark, BigTable/HBase, Cassandra
What the job involves
- In collaboration with the Director of Engineering, the Senior Data Engineer will own the scaling and modernization of our data infrastructure to improve reliability and performance, and will collaborate on AI engineering projects to improve our data pipelines, products, and services. The Senior Data Engineer will also have project lead responsibilities and will play a big part in roadmap definition and execution
- Design and implement event-driven and fault-tolerant systems to improve Lilt’s data infrastructure, providing timely and reliable data to all areas of the business
- Apply your engineering experience to implement new data products and services to enable both internal and external customers
- Design and lead data team projects
- Share your knowledge with your colleagues, helping them to grow their technical skills
- Keep the technical excellence bar high, contributing to code quality, doing code reviews, increasing test coverage, etc
- Partner with product team and help to decompose huge business requirements into smaller deliverables
Our take
Widely available tools like Google Translate are not fit for complex, operationally intense processes that require expert translations. Manual methods of yesterday can't scale with the volume of digital information produced in the world today. Lilt works with companies, schools, and government agencies to provide AI-powered enterprise language translation. Lilt’s platform combines a translation management system and neural machine translation with human language experts to create a “human-in-the-loop” approach.
While companies like AI Translate offer intelligent machine translations, they still have linguists fine-tune and correct the texts afterward. With the Lilt platform, AI and humans work in collaboration through the text together, with the AI making real-time sentence suggestions and the linguist reviewing them immediately. This collaboration creates 3-5x better efficiency compared with traditional human-only translation services, aiding in Lilt's substantial rounds of funding.
Clients such as Asics, Canva, and Digital Ocean use Lilt technology for urgent campaigns and large-scale localisation projects. Recently, Lilt launched its V3.5 translation models, which improve quality by 15% to 20%, significantly enhancing translation accuracy and efficiency. Additionally, Lilt appointed a new Chief Revenue Officer to propel growth and scale, emphasising its commitment to expanding its market presence and improving its services further.
