Data Engineer, 37signals

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative scientific field (computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, bioinformatics, etc.)
• Experience with implementation and maintenance of applications in cloud services from at least one of the major public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc)
• Strong knowledge of Python or R
• Strong communication and problem solving skills
• Experience with both relational SQL and NoSQL databases
• An understanding of machine learning algorithms, and the types of tools and infrastructure required to support ML operations and engineers is preferred but not essential
• A friendly, can-do attitude and ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Desirable

• We are hiring a data engineer to scale up our data infrastructure and to work with the data science team to build and implement an interrogatable database architecture
• Partner with the Data Science team to identify solutions to ensure smooth operation of our data pipeline
• Develop and maintain scalable infrastructure to securely store and serve internal data
• Identify bottlenecks in existing analysis pipelines and deploy improvements where appropriate
• Assist the design, build, test and maintenance of data acquisition and processing pipelines
