Who you are
- A great candidate for this role is highly-technical, energized by talking to customers, and loves going deep to master new domains
- If you’re a creator that gets excited by driving technical success and trailblazing opportunities in new verticals - all within the context of customer engagements - this could be for you

- 1-2 years experience in sales engineering, solutions engineering/architecture for a software product
- 1-2 years in a role working with web development languages (Javascript, Node.js, React); REST APIs; and/or with a general purpose programming language such as Python
- Someone who loves figuring out creative solutions to complex problems
- A strong communicator and storyteller who can impress customer stakeholders at any level, from executive to developer
- Strong domain knowledge in several of the following areas and a proven ability to learn new domains quickly: marketing automation tools, customer data platforms (CDP), eCommerce systems, mobile apps, analytics, ad tech, data engineering
What the job involves
- Klaviyo has a unique take on the Solution Architect role
- While most companies hire SAs to give demos, fill out questionnaires, and explain complicated setups, that makes us yawn
- We built a product that anyone can use (just ask our more than 160,000 customers) and our Account Executives are product experts themselves
- So what do we do
- We work directly with a small percentage of prospective customers, in collaboration with our sales team, as technical consultants and industry experts to accelerate complex deals and customer value
- We use these engagements as an opportunity to learn, prototype, and develop reusable solutions (e.g. check out Solution Recipes on our Klaviyo Developer Blog)
- We look for interesting problems and aim for solutions that are extensible and reusable
- We believe simple things should be easy and hard things should be possible
- Become a complete expert in the Klaviyo app and experience, from APIs to UI to how the app is used by our customers - as well as having a deep understanding of the technical and competitive landscape
- Be the go-to internal technical resource for the sales team, educating team members as well as prospects/customers to provide a consistently positive Klaviyo experience
- Develop and maintain personal relationships during engagements across many different prospects simultaneously
- Act with urgency and precision to give customers best in class support in troubleshooting issues as they arise
- Be a voice of our emerging customer needs while working closely with other internal teams such as Voice of the Customer, Developer Experience, and Product

From personalised newsletters to automated emails when customers abandon their shopping carts, the marketing automation platform makes it easy for businesses to capture, store, analyze, and predictively use their own data to drive measurable, high-value outcomes.
Klaviyo's CEO, Bialecki, believes that the main problem with e-mail marketing today is that there is a divide between two kinds of tools: analytics tools that help you understand what people are doing on a website, such as what products they are considering, and messaging tools that send them a marketing e-mail. Operating primarily within the retail and eCommerce industry, Klaviyo aims to solve this by offering a tool that brings together analytics and messaging. This allows companies to bring all of their first-party data into a single platform to get a deep understanding of their customers and then activate that data to deliver highly-targeted, personalised communications through email and SMS. In the process, Klaviyo's customers get a deep understanding of their consumers.
Klaviyo is a fast-growing company mainly due to its business model - the firm offers a concrete ROI for Klaviyo’s clients if the software persuades customers to make purchases by treating different types of customers differently. An IPO in 2023 has led to Klaviyo's release of Klaviyo AI, which empowers businesses to unlock revenue-driving opportunities and deliver exceptional customer experiences across channels. Still in its early days of public listing, it will be interesting to see how Klaviyo fares in the years to come.
