Role
Who you are
- We are looking for University students pursuing a Computer Science or related degree who are interested in a 12-week Summer 2024 Internship and that are passionate about building large-scale, mission-critical software in a fast-paced agile environment
- The ideal candidate will share our passion and pride in the simple elegance and usability of our solution
- You are a problem solver who cares about making a meaningful impact and enjoys working as part of a collaborative, high growth, distributed team
- Interest in software development experience, and testing that supports building highly reliable, mission-critical software
- Ability to program in at least one OO programming language (e.g. Java, C++ and/or Python)
- Understanding of concepts like Web Services, SOA, REST APIs
- Able to apply knowledge gained in computer science courses to real world problems
- Enjoy being part of a highly collaborative, remote-friendly environment
- Familiarity with Node.js applications
- Graduation date between Dec. 2024- May/June 2025
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field
Desirable
- Working knowledge of web technologies (such as HTTP, HTML/DOM, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX) will be beneficial
- Past summer internship experience, ideally in enterprise software companies
What the job involves
- As an intern on the team, you will be embedded in one of our core teams and will have opportunities to learn about the broader organization
- You will have the ability to be a part of supercharging our next phase of growth
- You will gain meaningful experience working directly with global team members to address real-world challenges and create innovative value for our customers
- You will join one of our Engineer Domains: Identity Access Management (IAM), Developer Experience (DX), or Platform Engineering
- Design and implement high-performance, scalable, reusable and maintainable software that will see real-world action
- Work with engineering teams to define project scope and understand our planning process
- Participate in test-driven development, design and code reviews
- Contribute iterative improvements to our systems
- Collaborate across Engineering, Product Management, Security and Design teams to solve technical and non-technical challenges
Our take
Okta started off as an identity company where organisations, large and small, could tap into the company to have a single sign-on interface to access all cloud applications now centralised. Okta has since expanded to provide identity management at the device as well as the server level.
The new approach towards network security is increasingly based on identification and authentication, and Okta is on track to become the go-to vendor in the space. It aims to do so by developing products that enable people to access applications and other tools more smoothly and securely than ever before.
Okta has taken strides towards expansion through significant employee growth and shuffling executive leadership. The company has also made lateral moves such as tackling governance concerns, opening up new paths for revenue.
