- Demonstrated success in people leadership in software development, particularly with large scale SaaS products
- You possess deep technical expertise in data engineering, specifically in building and scaling complex data transformation pipelines and agentic AI architectures

- The ability to describe successful projects you worked on, as well as a collection of lessons learned from failed projects; and

What the job involves
- We are currently seeking a Software Development Manager to join our Engineering team. This role is available to candidates in Dublin, Ireland. If you are local to our office hub in Dublin, you will be expected to be in office minimum twice per week on one of our Anchor Days
- Specifically, this role supports our Content Engineering group and the Iceberg platform, serving as the technical visionary for the data pipelines that power our core AI products

- For Development Managers this means supporting and growing your people, strong execution as a team and as a triad (the teams Designer + Product + Development manager leadership group), and building solid technical solutions
- Our development managers are highly technical and hands on, often coding, designing and reviewing alongside their team
- They coach and build their teams to be both strong technically and strong team members
- They create a safe and productive environment for all Clions
- Collaborating with your triad to: understand the challenges our business faces, identify the most impactful opportunities, and craft a roadmap for the team
- Working with your team on designing the technical solutions
- Giving great feedback on code reviews, architecture documents, and more to help support team members making great technical decisions for their projects
- Actively participating as a contributor to the project, either through extensive code reviews, or shipping code
- Having a 1:1 meeting with your direct reports to make sure they are supported in their career growth and development goals
- Actively participating in hiring to grow engineering team at Clio
- Reviewing code contributed by members from your team or other Clio developers reaching out to you for your experience with a given technology or pattern
Our take
Modern law firms increasingly manage their work digitally but the lack of a specialised remote solution means that workflows have become fragmented. This leads to legal practice managers having to juggle multiple software solutions across various devices.
Clio provides a legal practice management platform designed for law firms, allowing users to manage billing for legal aid cases, access and manage documents and store files across multiple devices. Whilst other startups are operating in this niche, Clio has uniquely focussed on synchronisation across remote devices and on a wide range of integrations, allowing the user to access information from other industry standard software such as Xero and Klyant from within a single interface.
Clio has raised a large amount of investment capital and benefited from the COVID-era move to cloud technologies. Most recently, it raised a 2024 Series F round, which saw the company attain a valuation exceeding $3 billion. This funding is being used to accelerate AI development and to allow existing investors and employees to cash out their shares.
