Who you are
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)
- At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
Desirable
- Master's Degree
- 9+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Scala, Python
- 3+ years of experience with Spark
- 5+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
- 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
- 1+ years of people management experience
- 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
What the job involves
- The Finance Data Refinery Team in our Enterprise Data and Machine Learning line of business supports the AWS hosted Data Ingestion and Data Processing applications, which enables a centralized data movement platform across Capital One
- You will get an opportunity and exposure to all possible data pattern combinations across Capital One and dive deep into the unique engineering challenges it brings around data integrity, security, and scale
- You’ll focus on designing and implementing platform architecture to ensure high availability of our managed environment
- You will have an opportunity to work on the application service layer written in Spark/Scala running on EMR’s orchestrated by Python Lambda, debug application and environment issues, and help optimize Spark/Scala to optimize compute utilization at Capital One
- Lead the technical design and solutions with deep experience in distributed computing handling data processing at scale of processing trillions of records every day
- Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and from time to time, be asked to code or evaluate code
- Collaborate with product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help Capital One operate Data Processing platform
- Utilize programming languages like Scala Spark, Python, NoSQL databases and a variety of AWS tools and services
