Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a top-tier institution. Advanced certifications such as CPA, CFA, or an MBA from a reputable program are strongly preferred
- Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with a proven track record in leadership roles
- Demonstrated experience in the CPG industry, with an understanding of the financial intricacies of supply chains, inventory management, and retail partnerships
- Proven expertise in managing complex accounting operations, including consolidations, revenue recognition, and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated success in partnering with FP&A teams to align operational execution with strategic financial objectives
- Hands-on experience with payroll and familiarity with payroll systems
- Prior experience managing external audits and working with auditors
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
- Willingness to relocate to Boston and work on-site daily
- Scrappy, startup mindset with no fear of taking ownership swiftly to develop a vision

What the job involves
- The Controller will be a critical leader in our organization, combining strategic financial expertise with operational excellence
- This role will oversee the accounting function while collaborating closely with FP&A to drive data-driven insights and decision-making
- Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Controller will serve as a key partner to senior leadership, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency
- This position is based in Boston and requires daily in-office collaboration with leadership, providing a unique opportunity to influence our growth and success in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Accounting Oversight: Lead and manage all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting
- Payroll Management: Oversee and ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory standards
- Annual Audit: Coordinate and lead the annual external audit process, liaising with auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion
- Insurance Oversight: Manage the company's insurance policies, including renewals, claims, and compliance with coverage requirements
- FP&A Collaboration: Partner with the FP&A team to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
- Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain internal control processes to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy
- Leadership and Team Development: Supervise the Accounting Manager and the accounting team, fostering professional growth and operational efficiency
- Tax Compliance: Work with external advisors to ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of all tax returns
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance financial and accounting processes, leveraging technology to drive efficiency
