Our take

Agility Robotics was founded with the aim of empowering the blended workforce, where humans and human-movement-enabled robots work side by side. Though there’s still plenty of wariness about what workplace robots might mean for the future of the workforce, the amount of R&D and Venture Capital funding into the space – coupled with an acute labor shortage – suggests that there’s no holding it back.

The company, founded by a team of Robotics and Bioengineering academics, has hit the headlines a number of times in the last few years for the mobility and dexterity of its robots which can walk around, move packages, and unload trailers (as well as climb stairs and run a 5K). This ability to run could have a huge impact, as it opens up the potential not just to work in warehouses and factories, but to complete last-mile deliveries – an ambition that Agility Robotics has made public.

It's advancing humanoid robotics with its robot, Digit, already working in logistics and delivery. With partnerships like Schaeffler AG and a new production facility, Agility is scaling up operations. Digit's tasks, including package handling, and future plans for self-replication, position the company to address labor shortages. As it enhanced Digit's AI and safety features, Agility is preparing for a future where robots and humans work together, shaping the digital workforce.
