Who you are
- The ideal candidate is a proven leader with strong communications expertise, capable of overseeing all aspects of communications and marketing, with support from a media agency and design team, to help position Vannevar Labs as a leader in national security technology
- 4+ years in communications and marketing, with experience with talent marketing
- Demonstrated interest for the defense, technology, or startup sectors
- Strong, speedy written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling messages
- Reps in building teams that produce high-impact communications and campaigns
- Proactive ownership mindset with proven track record of “getting things done”

What the job involves
- Vannevar Labs is looking for a Marketing & Communications Manager to lead the development and execution of our communications and marketing strategy
- This role will focus on building out a team dedicated to driving the company’s business objectives through media relations, executive prep, digital marketing, thought leadership, and internal communications
- You will work closely with leadership to craft and deliver compelling messages and campaigns that resonate with external stakeholders, customers, and employees alike
- Brand-building: Work closely with our leadership to shape and maintain a compelling company narrative that articulates our mission, technology and impact
- Talent-oriented campaigns: Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies that align with Vannevar Labs' business objectives, including media relations, think tank engagement, public affairs, and internal communications
- Content creation and distribution: Co-create high-quality written, visual, and multimedia content for external communications, including press releases, blogs, newsletters, and social media, with the media agency, design team, and executive team
- Stakeholder engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with key media, analysts, and external stakeholders to enhance the company’s visibility and reputation, as well as manage our external vendor relationships related to communications
- Performance: Identify and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of communication and marketing strategies

Vannevar Labs’ innovative foreign text platform, delivers solutions to some of today’s most important national security problems.
The company’s workflow platform Decrypt, uses machine learning and automation to understand, target, and respond to foreign actors in ways not previously possible. The platform is a proven success, driving Vannevar’s growth and attracting a $40M OTA contract with the Department of Defense.
Yielding impressive traction so far, the company is using its latest Series B funding round to invest in new product development. Vannevar Labs is also aiming to win its first multi-year program from Decrypt. Should it be successful, the level of guaranteed sales and revenue would be a turning point in the company’s long-term trajectory.
