Who you are
- We are looking for a open minded team player with good communication skills
- No need to be a Quantum physics doctor, (we already have a lot of them at Pasqal ;D), but working in this company is the opportunity to talk with experts in various fields and learn many things
- You have a strong experience with Python and it's development ecosystem
- You are familiar with software architecture (OOP and design patterns)
- You have good knowledge of Git and CI (Gitlab CI is a plus)
- Also a good experience with dealing with hardware
- You are comfortable with databases (PostgreSQL)
- You are very familiar with Linux (we use Ubuntu)
- And also familiar with C or C++ (some drivers are sometime just provided with a C API)
- Being fluent in Rust, or a strong motivation to learn it, is highly appreciated
What the job involves
- PasqOS is the software operating Pasqal's bleeding edge Quantum Processing Units (QPU)
- It is a fairly complex software that interracts with a lot of hardware written mostly in Python
- We are looking for experienced developpers interested in working on the Quantum Computing fied, and particiapte to Pasqal technological advances through various projects
- To contribute to implement features into PasqOS,
- To implement tests and write documentation for those features,
- To propose evolutions and refactorings,
- To help the PasqOS integration team to solve problems with the QPUs,
- To potentially integrate new hardware on PasqOS
- To particiate to code reviews and merge code
- To participate to the maintenance and enhancement of the CI and code tooling in general,
- To propose and try new things, share your knoweldge and experience

Our take
Classical computing, using bits made up of ones and zeros, have almost reached the physical limits of its capabilities, with engineers running out of ways to fit more transistors onto a computer chip. Meanwhile the processing demands on computing hardware only increase. Quantum computers have long been posited as a solution to this issue, with processors able to exploit quantum mechanics to perform calculations exponentially faster than any classical computer. Founded by a Nobel Prize for Physics recipient, Pasqal exists to bring quantum computing out of the realm of scientific research (and science fiction) and into the business world for the first time.
Pasqal is not alone in the race to produce quantum computers and it faces competition from well-funded rivals such as IonQ and IBM. However, it is pursuing a different technological line - neural atom computing, the ability to manipulate individual atoms with laser tweezers - which has the advantage of being more scalable and energy efficient, being able to run at room temperature rather than requiring supercooling.
In 2023, Pasqal closed a Series B funding round which will be used to develop its first quantum systems for use in business. Having successfully built proof of concept models and overcome the technical challenges of manipulating a few and then hundreds of atoms, Pasqal is building a bespoke control system and begin implementing quantum algorithms. Pasqal was also awarded one of five grants from the French Ministry of Defence in 2024, as part of a government plan to create 2 universal quantum computer systems for defence purposes by 2032. This new development indicates Pasqal's expansion from solely business purposes into new sectors where its technology can be impactful.
