Role
Who you are
- 3 years proven experience working as an HR Generalist or in a similar HR role
- Strong knowledge of HR practices, ideally coupled with knowledge of employment laws and regulations – if you don’t have experience with all these areas, then the ability to learn quickly and adapt
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, handle sensitive information with discretion, and put the needs of the company first
- Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities, even in high stress situations
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ideally, proficiency in HRIS and other HR software applications - but more importantly, the ability to autonomously learn systems quickly
What the job involves
- As an HR Generalist, you will play a crucial role in managing various human resources functions within our organization
- Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of HR activities, including onboarding, systems, benefits, employee relations, performance management & training, policy development, and compliance
- You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth functioning of HR operations and contribute to the overall success of our organization
- Perform routine tasks required to run HR programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management and development; productivity and morale; and occupational health and safety
- Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants and employees, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
- Run our HRIS (Rippling), knowing it inside and out, maintaining accurate employee records, generating HR reports, and troubleshooting/addressing questions as needed
- Run performance review cycles and employee recognition programs
- Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory (and non-mandatory) trainings
- Review policies and make recommendations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Conduct values interviews in the hiring process
- Run employee onboarding and offboarding programs
- Proactively stay on top of trends, best practices, new tech, and regulatory changes in HR, talent management, and employment law
- Embrace a startup mentality and performs other duties as needed
Our take
OneSignal was born out of the frustration of game developers with existing push notification tools, that were not developer-friendly and did not give them a good way to re-engage users and bring them back into the game. After building its own push notification system to address these issues, the company quickly found a market gap for an easy, developer-friendly push notification system for all apps, that could be utilised by any size company.
Today, they are a customer engagement platform of choice implemented by over 1 million businesses. OneSignal's web and mobile SDK is simple for developers to install, and for marketers to use, supplying omnichannel messaging across web-and-mobile push, in-app messaging, SMS, and email.
Although there is notable competition in the space, from companies such as Braze and CleverTap, OneSignal claims uniqueness with its focus on “intelligent delivery”, which schedules notifications for the time of day users most interact with the app. The company has raised substantial funds, both in the past and more recently, that will be invested in machine learning projects, geographic expansion, and growing its team.
