Senior / Principal Systems Engineer, Cloudflare

• This role would suit someone moving from a senior-level hands-on distributed systems role, cyber security / fraud experience preferred
• You must be willing to work East Coast hours and be onsite two days per week at one of the office locations listed below. This is not a fully remote role

• An expert in designing, integrating, and optimizing distributed data processing pipelines
• Very strong hands-on coding skills in Go, Rust, Python, or other high-performance languages
• Curiosity, empathy and strong emotional intelligence
• Someone comfortable tackling ambiguous problems
• Experience in constructing and managing alerting and monitoring systems for data processing pipelines
• Exceptional abilities in systems-level debugging
• Familiarity with advanced analytics encompassing machine learning, statistical inference, and AI
• Preferred background or interest in Web Security and HTTP protocols

Desirable

• Available Locations: NYC, Washington DC, Austin Texas - considered if working East Coast hours
• Join Cloudflare's Device Fingerprinting team to tackle real-world security challenges relating to identifying abusive HTTP L7 traffic coming from people and automated bots
• We capture a huge amount of metadata from traffic passing through our proxy and also from scripts running on client devices
• There are fascinating data science and engineering scale problems to solve in working out which client devices are behind incoming requests in a privacy-first way, including training and deploying machine learning models
• Our tech stack includes Go, Rust, Python, JavaScript, Kafka, Kubernetes, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, and Jupyter notebooks
