Who you are
- You are passionate about privacy and excited to talk about it
- You'll consider yourself a subject matter expert in some privacy engineering-related topics
- Experience implementing security and privacy best practices in complex environments
- Hands-on experience transforming complex technical requirements into solutions
- Experience with testing, coding and debugging procedures for both applications and systems
- Great analytical skills, including the ability to assess risks and impacts on individuals from a privacy and data protection perspective
- Excellent at communicating in spoken and written English
- Good at articulating technical topics to non-technical stakeholders
- Advantage: CIPT, CDPSE certified, or other privacy-related certifications
What the job involves
- Lead implementation of privacy-enhancing technologies, such as synthetic data, anonymisation and differential privacy, within Vinted
- Collaborate with Engineers across the organization to support the implementation of Privacy by Design
- Prepare guidelines and policies for privacy engineering-related technical topics
- Communicate industry best practices and trends as well as Privacy Engineering initiatives to your Vinted colleagues
- Participate in privacy projects that go beyond compliance and help us communicate the value of privacy to our members
- Define privacy-related requirements for systems and tools used by Vinted
- Support and help implement technologies that enable the use of AI with Vinted in a privacy-preserving manner

For many years, the online fashion resale market was dominated by eBay. Vinted, first set up as a local website, has challenged the incumbent market leader by shifting focus towards sustainability.
Vinted has managed to compete successfully with other eCommerce platforms by providing more creative and personalized ways to shop, and focusing solely on fashion. With 75 million users it outstrips other fashion-focused competitors in this space, such as Depop which has roughly half the user base, but it sees its real competition in retailers that sell new clothing.
Vinted has raised significant funding which it has invested into rapid expansion, growing its presence in European markets and scaling up its US operations. While in the short term this has caused its profitability to drop, this expanded market reach is likely to yield dividends in the very near future.
