Role
Who you are
- We’re looking for a Business Operations & Automation Lead — a hands-on operator who’s passionate about making work smarter, faster, and more scalable
- You’re excited about designing better ways of working, embedding in teams to make a real difference, and leveraging the best new tools to automate the boring stuff
- 4+ years of experience in business operations, process improvement, or systems/automation-focused roles
- You love to build and implement solutions yourself — you are hands-on with tools, not someone who just writes the plan
- Technical aptitude — experience with no-code/low-code platforms, spreadsheets, databases, scripting (e.g., Google Apps Scripts, Airtable scripting), or lightweight systems integration
- Strong process mapping and redesign skills — comfortable untangling messy workflows and designing better ones
- Bonus: Experience or familiarity with merchandising, retail, or ecommerce processes (e.g., assortment planning, PLM, vendor management)
- Obsessed with staying on top of AI and automation trends — you’re the person who’s always testing the next great tool
- Strong communication and change management skills — you can work across functions, build trust, and help teams embrace new ways of working
What the job involves
- In this role, you’ll partner closely with our merchandising team to map workflows, identify inefficiencies, and implement process improvements and automations
- You’ll be embedded in merchandising as your first mission, but your impact will extend across the business over time.
- This is not a people management role — it’s for a doer who thrives on solving problems, delivering tangible outcomes, and staying at the cutting edge of tools and technology
- You'll map, analyze, and redesign core merchandising processes, eliminating friction and manual work
- Identify and deliver quick wins and longer-term automation projects, using AI, no-code/low-code tools, and scripts
- Build lightweight automations (e.g., using Google Apps Scripts, Zapier, Make, Airtable, Notion, or similar)
- Evaluate and recommend tooling to support merchandising operations (e.g., assortment planning, PLM, vendor management tools)
- Create clear documentation, dashboards, and workflows to support sustainable improvements
- Champion operational change by working directly with merchandising team members to help them adopt new tools and processes
- Stay constantly up-to-date on the latest AI, automation, and productivity tools, and proactively bring ideas for how they can benefit the team
Our take
FabFitFun is a subscription service that delivers home decor, beauty, fashion and wellness products directly to its subscriber's doors. Subscribers can choose between two different plans and can either pre-pay for 4 boxes a year or pay-as-they-go for a slightly increased price.
The brand targets a premium market and faces competition from numerous other subscription services such as Birchbox, GLOSSYBOX and CAUSEBOX. Users are able to customize some of the products in their box, whereas other products are unchangeable 'surprises'. For brands, the box is a new way to find customers and engage with them.
During the pandemic, FabFitFun doubled subscribers, capitalizing on both the rise of self-care and 'stay at home' restrictions. It has maintained momentum, delivering new features and perks for members, in addition to securing a patent that enables parcel services to serve targeted ads via package tracking pages, status email updates, and other channels, which could prove lucrative for its future. In 2024, it began cementing its place in the pet marketplace by acquiring monthly subscription petcare company PupBox, indicating that FabFitFun is still searching for new and lucrative markets.
