What the job involves

You will design user experiences to translate complex workflows into UIs that are intuitive and delight our users, owning the process from early-stage concepts all the way through delivery and success measurement
Working with customers, operators, product managers, and engineers, you will perform experiments and shape our user experience strategy in a rapidly evolving environment with data and insights to drive the best UX
With stakeholders in the company across FBA, AWD, retail, marketplace, technology, and operations, you will have frequent opportunities to influence significant UX decisions
Create elegant and intuitive user experiences by incorporating user insights, business requirements and technical constraints
Lead the planning and strategic phases of a project. Proactively pitch new CX ideas, backed by a strong, well-articulated rationale
Quickly and iteratively create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, high fidelity mockups with detailed visual design specifications for web and mobile interfaces throughout the design process
Independently deliver UX solutions for problems of large scope and complexity. Work through ambiguity, and adapt your approach to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders
Be a champion for user-centered design by testing your solutions in front of users. Be willing to build lightweight prototype, conduct scrappy and quick user testing on your own
Present design work to UX, Product, and Engineering teams, as well as stakeholders and executive leadership
Contribute to user experience design guidelines and development best practices and standards at Amazon Design Community
Proactively mentor and lead other designers

The company is present in numerous verticals, including cloud computing with Amazon Web Services, AI with its range of Alexa devices and a global marketplace more commonly referred to as 'the everything store'. Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.

More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.

Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
