Pasqal is not alone in the race to produce quantum computers, and it faces competition from well-funded rivals such as IonQ and IBM. However, it is pursuing a different technological line - neural atom computing, which can manipulate individual atoms with laser tweezers. This has the advantage of being more scalable and energy efficient, and can run at room temperature rather than requiring supercooling.

In 2025, Pasqal closed an equity funding round from LG Electronics, a partnership which will see the companies work together to solve multiphysics simulation and optimisation challenges for LG. Having successfully built proof of concept models and overcome the technical challenges of manipulating a few and then hundreds of atoms, Pasqal is building a bespoke control system and beginning to implement quantum algorithms. Pasqal was also awarded one of five grants from the French Ministry of Defence in 2024, as part of a government plan to create 2 universal quantum computer systems for defence purposes by 2032. This new development indicates Pasqal's expansion from solely business purposes into new sectors where its technology can be impactful.
