What the job involves
- Join us on the zero-to-one journey and shape the future of commerce as part of a strategic moonshot at Shopware. This is not a "wait for requirements" kind of role
- You operate as an entrepreneur inside Shopware, acting like an owner
- You will drive ideas from inception to production
- Your work location will be agreed upon in advance and forms the basis of your employment contract
- Build what is next: You live in our customers' relative future. Push the edge of what is possible with the latest in AI, often without documentation or playbooks
- End-to-end ownership: responsibility for your bets from idea to production
- Ship fast: You can just ship things, both because you have the permission to and because you are comfortable iterating in public
- Always be useful: Act as a hands-on owner, not a manager. In a startup spirit, we don’t stop at role boundaries but jump in wherever help is needed most
- Ship momentum, not chaos: Turn ambitious visions into executable plans without slowing down the team. Establish lightweight rituals that keep teams aligned without bureaucracy
- Connect the dots: Identify dependencies across the business and with external partners before they become blockers
- Enable autonomy: Build systems that let individuals ship independently while maintaining minimum viable coherence and mitigating risk

Our take
The eCommerce boom in recent years has shown no signs of slowing down, and Shopware is capturing the opportunity. The company offers a set of open source tools to power the online shopping experience for hundreds of thousands of brands.
There are of course competitors, like Shopify Plus, but Shopware has stood out for serving mid-market companies that were not digitally-native businesses but had to take on digital channels to keep up with customer demand. This, combined with the obvious increase in brands and companies needing help when eCommerce became more mainstream, has served Shopware particularly well.
Founded in 2000, the company only received its first round of funding in 2022. Until then, it had been profitable off its own back. This capital and support from, among others, Carlyle and PayPal will be invested in its international growth.
