Role
Who you are
- Proven experience leading technology and platform architecture in a content, subscription or information-driven business
- Strong technical understanding of microservices-based architectures comprising a CMS, subscription/paywall systems, billing and web infrastructure
- Hands-on familiarity with key platforms such as WordPress, DatoCMS, AWS/Heroku, Cloudflare, Zephr, HubSpot, Pulse and Stripe or other platforms in a similar ecosystem
- Demonstrated experience managing outsourced development teams and ensuring delivery against business priorities
- Strong track record of translating business and product requirements into technical development, and overseeing the successful delivery of product features and platform improvements
- Excellent project management and vendor management skills
- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership
- Experience in a high-growth tech or SaaS environment is preferred
Desirable
- Technology leadership & architecture design
- Own and maintain Sifted’s core stack, including our headless CMS (WordPress + DatoCMS), infrastructure (Heroku, AWS, Cloudflare), subscription/paywall and billing systems (Zephr, Stripe), and CRM/analytics platforms (HubSpot, Pulse, MixPanel, GA4)
- Ensure scalability, reliability and security of all platforms, whilst being cost-effective
- Lead the roadmap for resolving tech debt in order to speed up new product development
- Manage key integrations across systems to support subscriptions, product launches and commercial operations
- Shape and communicate the technology roadmap in line with Sifted’s business strategy and growth goals
- Contribute to scaling the technology function over time as the business scales
- Delivery & vendor management
- Act as the primary interface with our nearshore development partner, running sprint ceremonies and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery
- Oversee DevOps processes and release management
- Manage supplier contracts, licences, renewals and performance
- Product support
- Partner with the Head of Research and the Intelligence team (Sifted’s product function) to deliver new content and data features, and enhance existing functionality
- Turn product requirements and business needs into clear technical specifications and delivery plans for the development partner
- Provide technical input during product discovery to assess feasibility, scope and implementation options
- Coordinate development, testing and release processes to support smooth, high-quality delivery of the product roadmap
- Wider business technical support
- Maintain and improve tech systems, integrations and processes used across the organisation to ensure they run smoothly and reliably
- Work cross-functionally to identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency
- Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate with the development partner to deliver fixes and enhancements
- Provide clear guidance and documentation to help teams use our systems effectively and understand new or updated processes
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in delivery and quality
- Governance & risk
- Champion cybersecurity, data protection and compliance
- Maintain and enforce robust testing, QA and release practices to ensure platform stability and reliability
- Identify, flag and mitigate risks associated with third-party systems, integrations and technical dependencies

- We are looking for a Technology & Platform Lead to own Sifted’s technical architecture and ensure our systems run reliably, securely and at scale
- You will oversee our outsourced development partner and act as the key link between them and the business — working cross-functionally to deliver improvements across the website, subscription/paywall systems and broader technology stack
- This role is central to making sure our technology supports Sifted’s growth — from smooth day-to-day operations to enabling new product launches
- Our working hours are 9:00-5:30
