Who you are

A desire to keep learning and stay current with new technologies
The ability to reason about code and a passion for writing high-quality, well-tested code
Degree or equivalent experience in computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline
In-depth experience server-side development using Java with Gradle or similar
Experience building cloud-native services for deployment on AWS with Ansible and Docker
Experience in natural language processing, text mining, search, or related disciplines
Full-cycle software engineering skills, e.g. OO design, design patterns, automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery

What the job involves

Design and development of server-side technologies to scale and deploy Linguamatics’ core NLP algorithms using Java, Python, and other tools
Leading a highly technical team of around 8 Java developers, C++ developers, and automation engineers
Occasional design and development of web applications with brilliant UX and design in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Vue
Occasional integration of Linguamatics products with third party technologies

IQVIA is a world leader in analytics and clinical research in the life sciences sector. Formed from a merger between IMS Health and Quintiles, it has over 40 years of experience in the sector, growing to become one of the world’s largest contract research organisations, with a network spanning more than 100 countries.

Since its founding, IQVIA has outperformed the market and is focusing on expanding biosimilar firms such as Humira. Humira provides generic drugs from existing medications without needing further data analysis. However, IQVIA’s involvement in new areas of research is likely to offset this trend.

With global medicine spending on track to reach £1.3 trillion by 2025, IQVIA is focusing its efforts on oncology and immunology, the most profitable sectors in pharmaceutical development. It is also building out its technological infrastructure, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence. While it is frank about the limitations of this technology within the sector, it greatly augments the data-handling capabilities of health science teams. Development in this sector is key to IQVIA’s growth plans for 2025 and beyond, which is on track with 2023-24 seeing a massive increase in company share value.
