Role
Who you are
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences, or a related field
- Preferably have prior experience working as a developer or software engineer
- Extensive experience in Platform Product Management
- Experience building products from the ground up (0-1 products) or working on platform/ecosystem products
- Skilled in managing strategic partner relationships or coordinating roadmaps and deliverables with third parties
- Experience building developer relationships and/or creating products for developer audiences
- Demonstrated ability to navigate a full product lifecycle, integrating customer feedback into product requirements, and driving prioritization through pre- and post-launch execution
- Proven experience working collaboratively with engineering, design, and user research teams
- Strong critical thinking and analytical leadership skills
- Experience presenting to senior executive audiences
- Background in a consumer-focused technology company
What the job involves
- We are seeking an entrepreneurial Principal Product Manager who will drive significant strategy and execution with the potential to transform the trajectory of Butterfly Network
- You will understand our strategic and competitive position in the future of ultrasound technology, including chips, devices, developer platforms, and user experiences
- Your goal is to deliver products to help our partners to build best in class products on the Butterfly platform
- This is reporting to the VP Product
- Drive impactful strategies and execute initiatives that can significantly influence Butterfly’s direction
- Understand Butterfly’s strategic and competitive position in the future of ultrasound, including hardware, devices, developer platforms, and user experiences. Deliver products that are aligned with our strategy and recognized as best in the industry
- Manage relationships with partners, build a thriving ecosystem ensuring their success and ability to deliver value to our platform
- Plan, initiate, and manage projects for developer products and platforms
- Work closely with cross-functional teams and external partners to drive product vision, define product requirements, coordinate resources from other groups (design, legal, policy, etc.), and guide the team through key milestones
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to balance the needs between near-term developer requirements and long-term platform advancements
- Incorporate data, research, and market analysis to inform product strategy and roadmap
Our take
Ultrasound machines are invaluable tools for clinicians, but these setups remain inaccessible to many. This is due to existing machines relying on quartz-powered transducers and other specialized components, resulting in a very large size and an expensive price tag.
Butterfly Network builds innovative, inexpensive, and compact ultrasound technology in order to increase access to clinics across the U.S. The device is around the same size as an electric razor, a design made possible by storing the ultrasound technology on a chip as opposed to a semi-conductor.
Whilst the company has not innovated the ultrasound process itself, Butterfly Network has found a unique gap in the market by providing inexpensive and easy-to-use access to the many clinics that could benefit from having an ultrasound machine. The device is available for under $2,000, but software designed for easy access and interpretation of ultrasound imagery comes at an additional monthly cost.
The company has also launched its very own AI marketplace called ''Butterfly Garden'' where medical device companies, virtual care companies, and AI developers can access Butterfly's software development kit. This will enable them to build new applications that reach Butterfly's prominent installed base.
