Who you are
- Minimum 8 years of proven experience in a finance leadership role, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to build and lead an effective finance team and contribute to strategic operational decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including investors and board members
- Proven experience in leading People & Culture functions or collaborating closely with the HR team
- Extensive experience in leading investment rounds and M&A transactions. IPO experience is a significant plus
What the job involves

- Manage the Operations department at Plan A while leading the development and execution of a comprehensive financial strategy, utilising experience from the financial industry, including M&A, to align with company goals and objectives
- Collaborate with the executive team to set strategic goals and align operational plans with the company's vision
- Lead and manage the finance team by setting clear goals and expectations, providing regular feedback, and fostering a positive and collaborative work culture
- Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance efficiency and drive growth
- Work closely with the People & Culture team, monitoring their initiatives and ensuring they align with company goals and values to improve employee experience and organisational performance
- Support management in fundraising activities for future growth, including identifying potential investors, presenting the company's financial position and growth plan, negotiating term sheets, managing the due diligence process, and coordinating the organisational aspects of the funding round
- Develop and implement a robust risk management framework, reporting into the CEO/CFO, to identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks, regularly evaluating financial procedures and controls to ensure resilience against economic fluctuations, market volatility, and regulatory changes
Our take
The EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation means that 75% of European companies across the EU and U.K. reported their environmental footprint in 2023. That represents a massive opportunity for startups like Plan A that deliver B2B monitoring services of companies’ sustainability indicators.
The startup is hoping to distinguish itself in a market that is now saturated with services, some of which offer little practical benefit. Plan A's B Corporation certification demonstrates that its tools comply with the strictest reporting standards and reflect the latest developments in climate science.
The company is planning to furnish its product to become best in class, focusing on decarbonisation tooling and the tricky Scope 3 calculations for various industries. While decarbonisation via offsetting can be a lucrative area, Plan A must be careful not to encourage compensation measures for avoidable emissions as this could delegitimise its ESG reporting system and undercut the benefits of using its platform.
