Who you are

Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience as a People Operations or Total Rewards Leader at a medium enterprise, with people management experience
ADP Payroll knowledge and experience required; must have deep knowledge and experience working with payroll vendors and platforms
Strong knowledge of US labor law, tax and compliance as well as all federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, including COBRA, FMLA, EEOC, and DOL/FLSA requirements
Knowledge of and experience with payroll and benefits administration in the UK, Canada and Asia is preferred, but not required
Deep understanding of benefit plan design and administration; experience owning open enrollment process end-to-end
Extremely strong communicator and project manager with a passion for employee experience and satisfaction
Detail oriented, deadline driven and work well under pressure with a high degree of accuracy
Capacity to thrive in a high-growth, fast-paced organization as both a solo producer and an eager collaborator, with employees of all levels of experience and seniority, across the organization
Highly discreet when dealing with sensitive employee payroll and benefit matters
Solution-seeker that displays outstanding judgment, critical thinking and project management skills
Highly motivated to do good as you do well in all areas of your work

What the job involves

This role reports to the VP, People & Culture and will require an in-office presence for critical moments, as defined by the hiring manager
Own administration of and data integrity for Away’s HRIS and related people systems for managing compensation, benefits, and compliance
Partner with legal counsel to manage all workforce-related compliance and policy matters, particularly Away’s Employee Handbook in all markets and compliance training
Own the relationship with Away’s benefits brokers in all markets ensuring the retirement, health and wellbeing plan design aligns with overall people strategy in a scalable way
Partner across the organization on our headcount planning strategy, ensuring we deliver against our compensation philosophy and we are growing our teams in an intentional way
Oversee the People Operations Specialist in the day to day administration of all benefit plans and leaves of absence
Oversee the Payroll Manager’s timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions for all locations and entities (US, UK, Canada, Asia)
Continually evaluate and execute on Away’s compensation philosophy inclusive of managing regular benchmarking to the market on new and existing roles to maintain competitiveness within the industry
Partner with finance on administration of the annual corporate bonus plan
Oversee administration of Away’s 401(K) plan including annual compliance testing, year-end filing of Form 5500 and employee match program
Ensure payroll and labor compliance with international, federal, state, and local requirements in all markets, partnering with internal or external counsel when necessary
Manage any internal reporting or people data analysis inclusive of participating in financial and legal audits
Partner closely with outside counsel on the administration and maintenance of all company sponsored visas
Be the subject matter expert and advisor on payroll, benefit, compensation or compliance best practices as we implement our future of work strategy creatively adapting to new ways of working
