Who you are
- There is no need to have prior experience in blockchain or cryptocurrency however Quality Assurance, SDET/STE or Testing experience is necessary
- The ideal candidate will be motivated and excited to engage on green field projects and will have interest or experience in any of the following:
- Blockchain and/or cryptocurrency
- Distributed systems
- Networking
- Security
- Functional programming
- Programming language theory
- Experience in QA is the only hard requirement; we're more interested in learning about your individual background!
What the job involves
- We are looking for talented and motivated engineers to join the Engineering team at O(1) Labs. This is a chance to join a small, collaborative team and have a ton of independence while working on fascinating cross-disciplinary problems in computing and building on the first cryptocurrency protocol with a succinct blockchain, Mina Protocol
- Cryptocurrency is a domain where correctness really counts. We are looking for an engineer with a focus on quality to help us build out our QA tooling and automated testing practices
- This is a chance to join a small, collaborative team and have a ton of independence while working on fascinating problems that span software engineering, systems design, cryptography, and computing
- Developing automation tests and tooling to ensure high levels of quality and correctness
- Working with the team to identify and implement the metrics, monitoring and alerting that indicate application quality and network health
- Being the steward of testing best practices
- Troubleshooting and debugging test failures and bug reports
Our take
Blockchain technology is an essential part of Web 3.0 infrastructure, but it is currently limited by problems of scalability. The constantly growing size of any blockchain's ledger requires expensive node infrastructure, which poses technical problems as well as undercutting Web 3.0's promise of decentralisation.
0(1) Labs, in response to this, incubated the Mina Protocol, which is a lightweight blockchain that can scale to any size, while remaining small enough for cell phones to act as nodes. This has since grown into a thriving ecosystem of Zero-Knowledge (ZK) developers (drawn in both by the promise of the technology, and by grants provided through token sales) while 0(1) Labs continues to work on several other ZK projects.
Despite crypto and blockchain spaces experiencing some troubles of late, O(1)'s infrastructure has been shown to work, which means it can continue to drive acceptance of ZK products into the mainstream. With strong funding at its back, it can be expected that O(1) Labs will continue investing in engineering and product development as it pursues its goal of bringing Web 3.0 to the general public.
