Role
Who you are
- The ideal candidate will have law firm and in-house experience supporting high growth companies substantial experience advising clients on a broad scope of topics
- Extensive experience within the fintech and cryptocurrency sectors is a major plus
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Minimum of 4-6 years of legal experience, with a focus on commercial and regulatory work in the fintech or cryptocurrency sectors
- In-depth knowledge of financial and cryptocurrency regulations, including securities laws, AML/KYC requirements, and data protection laws
- Proven experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- High level of drive, integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility
What the job involves
- We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced in-house counsel to grow with our legal team
- This individual will have an immediate opportunity to support the commercial contract and regulatory function, and will be expected to autonomously drive projects to completion by partnering with cross-functional team both inside and outside the legal department
- This role will involve drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance, and preparing responsive documentation for regulator and law enforcement
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including NDAs, client services agreements, vendor contracts, and partnership agreements
- Provide legal advice and support on regulatory matters, including compliance with financial regulations, data protection laws, and cryptocurrency-specific legislation
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement compliance policies and procedures
- Draft regulatory and law enforcement communications in response to regular requests and correspond with senior attorneys with respect to same
- Monitor and analyze legal and regulatory developments in the finance, fintech, and cryptocurrency space, and advise on their impact on the company’s operations
- Assist in the management of legal risks, including litigation risk, and provide strategic advice to support business objectives
- Liaise with external legal counsel as needed to address complex legal issues
- Support corporate governance matters and ensure adherence to internal policies and standards
- Conduct legal research and provide training to internal stakeholders on relevant legal topics

This breadth of scope, in combination with Zero Hash’s API-driven business model, means its clients can access a competitively broad range of crypto products; and get them up and running competitively fast.
Zero Hash's gamble is that an increasing number of companies will be looking to offer crypto products to their customers, and it's being firmly vindicated. NFT minting, trading, and ownership has skyrocketed over recent years, and crypto trading has broken into the mainstream.
Despite the boom in crypto trading, November 2022's FTX crash has given way to a more cautious market. Internal controls, governance, and closer attention from regulatory bodies have somewhat slowed the pace of trading. As a global exchange though, Zero Hash is carving out a role for itself as a watchdog and overseer.
