Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Event Management, or a related field
- Proven experience in sales and business development, preferably within corporate sales function
- Strong Relationship building skills
- Strong network of contacts across corporate and creative industries
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with CRM software and LinkedIn automation tools
- Ability to analyze data and create reports
What the job involves
- We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to spearhead the growth and expansion of our “Events and Corporate Sales” business
- This role will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to create and manage a diverse portfolio of events and offers that align with our brand and resonate with our target audience
- In this role you will seek opportunities for Mejuri to be choice partner, for Corporate Gifting and/or Events
- You will be a key driver in building strategic partnerships, securing event sponsorships, and maximizing revenue opportunities
- Strategic Planning & Development:
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for the “Events and Corporate Sales” business, including identifying target audiences, event formats, and revenue models
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends and opportunities in the events industry
- Create a comprehensive event calendar that aligns with the overall marketing and promotional strategy
- Event Bookings + Management:
- Conceptualize a playbook for events offerings to ensure seamless and low lift pass off to retail teams
- Manage partner facing portion of event logistics, including pass through of RSVP lists to store teams
- Partnership & Sponsorship Development:
- Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with relevant businesses and organizations to enhance event offerings and reach
- Develop and manage corporate offering packages including promotions and bulk discounts to drive revenue
- Sales & Revenue Generation:
- Identify and pursue opportunities to generate revenue through events, merchandise sales, and other related activities
- Track and analyze performance metrics to assess ROI and identify areas for improvement
- Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and corporate partners
- Gather and analyze feedback to continuously improve event and promotional offerings
- Budget Management:
- Create and manage pricing and promotion strategies, ensuring cost-effectiveness and maximizing ROI
- Track sales and revenue and provide regular financial reports to management
Our take
Traditional jewelry retailers often target men for gifting - in part to make higher mark-ups acceptable. Mejuri, however, is putting the purchasing decision back with women with its direct-to-customer strategy. Instead of releasing large batches of seasonal pieces, Mejuri introduces only a small quantity of products each week, which allows it to translate trends and consumer feedback sentiments into its designs in a timely manner.
Having accumulated millions of visitors to its website, it is clear that Mejuri has captured a lot of interest. It has released over 1,000 designs since its launch, has an impressively long waitlist, and boasts that a large portion of its monthly transactions come from returning customers.
Despite its online focus, Mejuri has opened a number of brick-and-mortar stores across the US, Canada, and the UK. The company's current focus appears to be on this offline expansion, as it tries to push beyond its biggest markets into the other countries it ships to, as well as investing in branding and the customer experience.
