Who you are
- Experience maturing software products in a high-growth start-up environment. Experience with IoT products is a big plus

- BS or higher in Computer Science or a similar discipline (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of experience developing and scaling successful software or IoT products, with at least 5 years of direct management experience
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager who will lead the team responsible for developing Bevi’s proprietary software, creating an integrated experience across machine interfaces and various customer/distributor applications
- In addition to machine controls, Bevi’s product includes a homegrown IoT platform to manage operations for, and collect data from, machines in the field. We’re just scratching the surface in terms of what we can do with thousands of internet-connected machines
- This role will take Bevi’s customer experience and operational efficiency to the next level by using real-time data to guide logistics and optimize machine performance
- This position will report directly to the VP of Software and will work cross functionally across the organization
- Manage the software engineering team who is responsible for the entire stack (OS development, firmware, backend and frontend), the main technologies we use are: Android, AOSP, Kotlin, InfluxDB, Snowflake, Typescript, React, Docker
- Build Bevi’s employer brand as a technical leader in the IoT space. Ensure that team members are achieving their professional goals and outpacing their counterparts in other companies
- Execute the roadmap for Bevi’s software ecosystem, comprising both applications for our customers as well as internal tools for operations, quality control, and engineering
- Bring world-class products to market faster and more cost-effectively than our competitors can
- Grow the capacity of our software team by recruiting FTEs as well as outsourcing to engineering firms
- Collaborate closely with our product team and hardware engineering team to drive the product roadmap, assess the needs of various stakeholders, and make tradeoffs between budget, features, and timeline
- Manage outsourced engineering firms, and make strategic decisions about what work to build vs. buy
- In partnership with our VP of Software, VP Hardware Engineering and our General Counsel, own intellectual property strategy in a changing competitive landscape
Our take
Americans buy billions of water bottles per year, the manufacture of which uses millions of barrels of crude oil. This alone causes significant damage to the environment, before even considering the carbon impact of delivery or the plastic waste produced. Bevi hopes to change this, with its smart beverage-dispensing machine that only requires a tap water source to function.
Bevi’s dispensers allow smartphone users to customize their drinks, check nutrition information and track the environmental impact of their usage. With the ability to carbonate beverages as well as flavor them with natural essences, and even some caffeine and electrolytes if one wishes, Bevi has created a versatile hydration system that caters to the modern consumer on both eco-conscious and personal taste levels.
This simple and effective hydration system has become popular across industries, with over 4000 companies including Volkswagen, Netflix and Google making use of Bevi machines. The company, though having to fight through some self-admittedly "frightening" times, has raised significant funding that will support its rapid growth and expansion into new verticals and products.
