Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience as a sales engineer, customer success manager, or enablement professional within the enterprise SaaS space, ideally within cybersecurity or application security
- 2+ years of progressive responsibility in SaaS Sales Engineering Leadership and/or technical enablement experience
- Basic knowledge of Container technologies (Kubernetes, Serverless, Docker)
- Proficient knowledge with Cloud technology (AWS, Azure, Google, etc.)
- Awareness of compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, FIPS, STIG, PCI-DSS
- Top-notch communicator, presenter, and facilitator
- Excellent project management skills, organization and attention to detail
- Solid attention to detail, and a bias toward technology and action
- Solid analytical skills, ability to pull reporting and visualize data
- Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity and actively build solutions for gaps that are slowing or blocking our ability to achieve results
- Expert ability to build relationships, influence, and promote a work environment focused on team development and constant coaching
What the job involves
- Chainguard’s Enablement Team is critical in strategically implementing key business initiatives to ensure that new and existing frontline team members are equipped with the information, skills, and behaviors they need to thrive and succeed in their roles
- The Technical Enablement Manager will be aligned with our technical GTM teams, including Sales Engineering, Solution Architecture, Customer Success Management and Technical Support Engineering
- They will partner closely with these leaders to identify skill gaps and opportunities and provide the relevant support to ensure these teams are effectively enabled and demonstrating success in each of their core areas
- Build robust relationships with leadership and teams in Sales Engineering and Customer Success, as well as the supporting enterprise ecosystem teams to ensure content, methodologies, and materials align with their priorities
- Define the strategy/roadmap for Technical Enablement and tactfully manage competing priorities to meet all stakeholder needs
- Develop demo methodologies and certification programs
- Partner with Product and Product Marketing teams for technical field readiness around upcoming releases and launches
- Institutionalize knowledge and decisions across technical teams and ensure that knowledge is documented and easily searchable in content management solution (i.e., Showpad)
- Provide structured feedback and coaching to technical teams
- Design optimal learning experiences using adult learning theory principles and robust learning objectives while catering to various learning styles in a virtual environment
- Develop a Sales Engineering-specific onboarding program
- Build technical programming into LMS; track for completion and ongoing skill development and content mastery
- Deliver technical training, along with SMEs, in virtual and in-person environments
Our take
Developers rely on open source code and apps in their day to day work, but when the provenance of the code is unknown this creates potential weaknesses that cybercriminals can exploit. Chainguard exists to build security into the coding supply chain by making it possible for companies to enforce security policies based on auditable signatures baked into the code, and by providing a security-first set of container images with no known vulnerabilities for cloud app developers.
In the wake of huge cyber attacks like the Log4j vulnerability and Solarwinds breach, software supply chain security has been an area of major focus for startups hoping to solve problems in this sector. However, most of these focus on scanning and detection of threats. Chainguard's approach comes from the other end of the process, focusing on building security into the software itself. It was built by former Google engineers aware of software developers existing workloads, so is designed to be easily installed and integrated into existing automation systems like Terraform.
Chainguard completed a Series C funding round led by Lightspeed Ventures in 2024, minting it as a new Unicorn on the cybersecurity scene. It is using this funding to expand its go-to-market internationally and expand its Chainguard Images product.
