Who you are

A least completed 2nd year studying mechanical, manufacturing or automotive engineering
Ability to work proactively with minimal support using a logical approach in an environment with minimal documented processes
Must be self-motivated and an effective team player
Eligible to work in the UK

Desirable

Prior manufacturing work experience
A basic understanding of High Voltage vehicle systems and safety
Experience working with electrical and mechanical EV components
Experience in a Formula student team
CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred)

What the job involves

Assist in assembling prototype energy storage systems with a focus on mechanical and electrical components
Ensure production targets are met with a strong emphasis on quality and cost
Research the most suitable systems for supply chain and ERP systems and present the best solutions to take forward
Visit manufacturing facilities to evaluate for a new production site
Visit established manufacturing facilities across the UK to evaluate production methods, systems and techniques
Facilitate the design of factory production and workstation layouts
Assist in maintaining and creating work instructions and engineering drawings for production
Facilitate the strengthening of supply chain and supplier relationships, including the expansion of new suppliers for production
Contribute to the data analysis of battery packs from UK breakers
Support manual fabrication and modification of components using workshop equipment
Support quality standards with a variety of quality management techniques to improve processes
Contribute insights from battery builds to develop build processes and work instructions for the team, driving design and manufacturing efficiency
Control health and safety requirements for workstations, including managing training and maintenance
Help create HV battery prototype build procedures based on safe systems of work (SSOW)
Contribute to the continuous improvement of production and business processes, including lean manufacturing methodologies
Manage resources, equipment, tools, parts availability, and consumables
Generate parts and material requirements lists for procurement activities
Produce maintenance schedules, monitor equipment uptime, and ensure daily checks are conducted
Participate in problem-solving activities, assisting in the analysis and resolution of issues
10-12 weeks with a start date in January 2024 or June 2024 depending on availability
