Our take

Fygo was founded in 2020 to combine social with financial rewards for students: think the internet extension Honey, but for real life and with no codes required. It does this by paying users a large percentage on daily purchases made using debit cards in digital services, physical stores, and e-commerce.

Fygo offers users instant, automatic cash rewards when Gen Z spend with their normal bank card at partner businesses. Users can also unlock extra money by exchanging gifts with friends, see what's hot, and discover new places to shop. It takes a social-motivated approach by offering students more money back when spending with friends, and is built for clubs, societies, and friendship groups. This brings collective money-making to university life, helping students get higher value from otherwise boring, everyday purchases. Furthermore, businesses can increase revenue by gaining higher footfall, bigger average transactions, and stronger customer loyalty from Gen Z-ers.

Since founding, Fygo has received financial backing from Utility Warehouse chairman Charles Wigoder and was part of the Hogan Lovell 2020 fintech cohort. In the future, Fygo aims to boost expand across throughout universities internationally and continue feeding the synergy between the social and finance sectors.
