Company mission

To empower innovators to create, transform, and disrupt industries by unleashing the power of software and data.

Role

Who you are

  • In the process of receiving a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields
  • Have a foundation in computer science theory, with proficiencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design
  • Fluent in any one of the following programming languages: Java, Python, Go, C++, Javascript, Node.js - or a comparable object-oriented programming language
  • Due to complete studies in 2026
  • If you want to see the big picture and experience a broad range of technologies from processors, storage & networks to code/compilers and cloud-based globally distributed systems - this is the role for you

What the job involves

  • We’re seeking curious minds like yours to collaborate with full-time engineers, learning standard development methodologies and gaining practical software engineering experience
  • Interns are fully integrated software engineers who spend the summer pushing production-level code to make lasting contributions to our products
  • Our opportunities in Dublin are on our Kubernetes, API Experience, Query or Server Performance teams
  • As part of our team, you will be part of improving our users experience of working with the Atlas Administrative API
  • You will design and build a part of the API platform, ensuring MongoDB users and developers have a best-in-class experience
  • You will also have the opportunity to write open-source software such as AtlasCLI, MongoDB Local Atlas Experience, MongoDB Atlas Cloud Formation Resources, MongoDB Atlas Terraform Provider & MongoDB Atlas Go SDK, which helps us provide a "wow" experience to our customers by reducing the cognitive load required to get started on MongoDB Atlas & allow them to easily integrate their application
  • The Query Team is responsible for MongoDB's unique query system, the beating heart of the entire MongoDB server
  • We take user requests and generate optimized query plans for lightning-fast data retrieval and transformation; we build MongoDB's real-time "change stream" event notification framework; we write the distributed code that targets and merges data across a MongoDB cluster
  • Right now we're in the middle of a historic rewrite of these core systems to make MongoDB an even better fit for the emerging time series and data analytics spaces, and we're looking for a few adventurous interns to help us make it even better
  • If that sounds like you, then we'd love to have you come on board as a member of our Class of 2025
  • We drive performance improvements for MongoDB products
  • As a result, customers get more predictable, scalable and efficient applications
  • The database is the beating heart of all software applications
  • Working with cloud platform companies to evaluate new technologies and optimize MongoDB performance on them - for example reducing carbon footprint
  • Comparing and analyzing MongoDB performance with other databases
  • Optimizing our suite of benchmarks for continuous integration
  • Performance tuning new features before release
  • Tuning and simulating customer workloads
  • MongoDB internships are full-time (40 hours/week) for 10 consecutive weeks lasting from dates in June until August

Our take

MongoDB is an open-source, cross-platform, document-oriented database system. It stores data as JSON-like documents and is written in C++, Go, JavaScript and Python.

Essentially, the company develops tools and blueprints to help businesses and organisations modernise their legacy applications, migrating them to the MongoDB database and the MongoDB Atlas cloud database. With this initiative, MongoDB is particularly taking aim at Oracle customers with ageing applications running on the Oracle relational database system.

Since its release, MongoDB has become one of the most popularly used NoSQL database systems due to its ease of use and efficiency. It is also the fastest-growing database ecosystem, and boasts hundreds of millions of downloads. Recently, the company announced a partnership with Patronus AI, an automated evaluation and security platform, through which it will bring automated LLM evaluation and testing capabilities to enterprise customers.
