Who you are

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
10+ years large scale programming and systems experience
Experience working with source management system platforms such as Git
Experience developing Microservices, REST APIs, and other database technologies using Java
Experience with eCommerce concepts, systems, and platforms
Experience with Containers (Docker and Kubernetes)
Experience developing applications on Unix/Linux platforms
Experience in full life-cycle agile software development
Experience with Cloud technologies and platforms
Experience in object-oriented analysis and design
Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and implementation approaches
Strong communication and interpersonal skills

What the job involves

Provide component and system level designs for large-scale commerce systems under Sony’s PlayStation Network Platform
Implement interactive web-based services and commerce capabilities using industry leading technology choices
Maintain ongoing operational ownership of components deployed to the production environment
Become a domain expert and provide strong technical leadership
Develop and maintain tools using Java, Go, and other industry relevant languages
Develop AWS based systems using managed services such as: AWS Lambda (Python and Java), AWS S3, AWS SQS
Your Responsibilities to the Team:
Experience leading engineering teams and mentoring others., have a strong desire to educate others and help people with problems
Lead and develop innovative techniques, design patterns and tools that take advantage of our advanced platform architectures to increase quality and performance on PlayStation® platforms
Promote and champion innovation within the systems team to produce creative solutions to problems
Develop projects frameworks that will be the foundation of future research projects
Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment/Delivery (CI/CD) concepts and practices
Be able to perform responsibilities with little direction or supervision

Our take

Its current flagship - the PS5 - promises to revolutionise gaming, featuring new technology that will create improvements across the board.

PlayStation faces competition in its field from the likes of Microsoft, with its Xbox range, and PC gaming, which has been becoming more popular in recent years. Regardless, PlayStation shows no signs of slowing down. The upcoming implementation of in-game ads in free games looks to significantly increase revenue, and the wider PlayStation gaming experience also appears to be evolving from plans to launch live service games in upcoming years.
