Who you are
- Solicitor admitted to practice in with at least 10+ years PQE having trained and qualified at a good national or international law firm
- Strong Generalist experience
- Strong Construction & Commercial experience
- An understanding of project finance/ financing documents would be advantageous
- Ideally someone who possesses inhouse experience
- Experienced contract negotiator with commercial awareness
- Excellent legal drafting skills
- Sound commercial judgment with an ability to prioritise effectively
- An understanding of the energy regulatory environment and experience in the energy sector would be a strong advantage
- Able to establish rapport and build strong trust-based relationships
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to thrive in a very fast-paced environment with large amounts of responsibility and ownership
- Excellent organisational skills, able to multi-task, meet deadlines and juggle competing demands
- Attention to detail and able to produce work of consistently high quality
- A strong team player able to work on own initiative
- Strong IT skills including MS Office and Teams
What the job involves
- This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious lawyer to establish a legal function in the US, supporting in the continuous growth of projects within both our EV Fleet and Battery Storage divisions
- The role would be reporting to our General Counsel in London and you would be part of an established legal team with experts in a number of specialities
- Lead across a broad range of work from a legal stance working closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Confidently manage general commercial legal related aspects of the business
- Manage company secretarial role, setting up and leading board meetings, company filings and ad hoc queries
- Lead on construction/ commercial and contract related matters
- Ability to upskill and be involved in asset finance/ project finance (if you don’t currently have this experience)
- Negotiation of a wide range of commercial contracts such as LOIs, Operation & Maintenance agreements, software agreements and service agreements
- Providing advice to internal and external stakeholders on key issues that may impact the business and operations – e.g. corporate governance, regulatory matters, data issues
- General day to day advice on key risk and legal issues
- Actively contribute to Zenobe's commitment to health and safety, wellbeing and sustainability by; integrating these principles into daily responsibilities, ensuring a safe and supportive work environment, promoting both the physical and mental health of self and colleagues, and adopting sustainable and energy-efficient practices to minimize environmental impact

Working towards building a net-zero society, Zenobē Energy owns and operates stationary battery storage assets. Its circular battery economy model is transforming the way businesses use power in order to reduce costs and carbon emission, protecting the environment.
The company, whilst a market leader in battery storage, has also become central in the electric vehicle fleet market, with an estimated 25% market share of the UK operational EV bus sector. Working with bus operators including National Express and Stagecoach, Zenobē is aiding the rapid uptake of EV buses, thereby ensuring that legally binding climate change targets are being met.
Previous funding rounds enabled the acceleration of the UK’s transition to a green road transport system. In 2024, Zenobē secured debt funding from Natwest, Siemens Financial, and Rabobank among others to support its ambitious decarbonisation projects in Scotland.
