Role
Who you are
- An M.S degree in a technical discipline such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, operations research or economics
- 2+ years data science experience dealing with complex problems in reporting, subscription products, user retention, revenue and marketplaces
- Strong proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, manipulating data with pandas, and common python data science libraries and generate dashboards in Tableau
- Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Be a self starter who has strong attention to detail with an ability to work independently and deliver quality results
- Ability to have fun!
What the job involves
- Houzz is looking for a world-class Revenue Data Scientist to join our Industry Solutions data science team
- This team is focused on uncovering critical insights and delivering models to leverage those findings thus powering intelligent business decisions
- As a Revenue Data Scientist here at Houzz you are on the front line of laying out the foundations and uncovering insights to impact Houzz Revenue directly
- Collaborate with leadership, sales, finance, product, engineering, operations and marketing teams to identify and develop revenue related reporting and also define, and launch strategic and operational data science initiatives to improve growth performance
- Work with data infrastructure/product engineering teams to define the data collection needs
- Enhance existing reports and develop new reporting that generates insights for the business
- Partner closely with sales and finance teams to aid analysis of revenue related projects
- Ensure revenue and business reports are accurate, consistent and free of errors
- Develop data pipelines as necessary to power BI and reporting needs
- Define and manage KPIs to guide business decision-making across various aspects of our site
- Design product experiments, interpret results to draw detailed and impactful conclusions, and conduct root cause analysis

Houzz was first launched as a side project, but has since grown to become a community of millions. Its connectivity and practicality have allowed Houzz to scale at an impressive rate, with its progress being considerably accelerated by the boom in home renovations projects taken on during the pandemic.
The company's strong profile allowed Houzz to become a major player in the home improvement space, and it expressed hopes to go public. Macroeconomic conditions, however, have put these plans on hold, with the company instead having to lay-off a number of employees late in 2022. Despite this, the company appears hopeful it can retain its market leadership and return to planning its IPO when conditions have improved.
