Role
Who you are
- 6+ years in industry experience and a degree (Masters or PhD is a plus) in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research)
- Prior experience in data science, product analytics within a marketplace and pricing / monetization products
- Deep technical expertise in data analysis, experimentation, causal inference, and familiarity with LLMs
- Robust business acumen, strategic thinking skills, and the ability to make informed judgments
- Outstanding communication skills, capable of engaging with a variety of stakeholders and conveying complex concepts in an accessible manner
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to collaborate and influence across functions
- An agile, growth-minded approach, demonstrated through a history of driving projects from ideation to impact
What the job involves
- Airbnb is seeking a Lead, Advanced Analytics, Product to help Airbnb enable travel for our millions of guests and hosts on our platform
- This individual will play a pivotal role in supporting strategic business and product initiatives through detailed data analysis, experimentation, statistical modeling, and the development of reporting tools and metrics
- The individual will be instrumental in driving product decisions across topic areas across the Guest and Host App
- Conduct advanced data analysis and statistical modeling to extract actionable insights that inform strategic decisions
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments to measure feature impact and guide product iterations. Leverage causal methods when traditional randomized trials aren’t available
- Design and build metrics / dimensions to monitor product and business performance
- Build sophisticated reporting and analytical tools that empower stakeholders to make data-driven decisions
- Work cross-functionally with Strategic Finance, Data and Analytical Engineering, and Data Science teams to ensure alignment and leverage synergies
- Manage senior stakeholder relationships, ensuring clarity of communication and strategic alignment on analytics initiatives
- Contribute towards advancing the Analytics and Data Science disciplines at Airbnb, including driving data best practices such as improving and automating analytical processes, building new data tools and data sets, data education around the company and mentoring and developing others

When Airbnb was originally founded, the product helped customers book air mattresses on people's apartment floors. Since then, Airbnb has had over a billion customers hosted through its platform. With more than 4 million registered hosts worldwide, it has grown into a major player in the hospitality sector.
Airbnb has been successful in disrupting the traditional holiday lettings sector. Before it existed accommodation was limited to hotels and bed and breakfasts, but Airbnb has mainstreamed the idea of renting out spare rooms or even entire homes. It has created a new sector of hosts purchasing properties to rent out on the platform and provides a level of flexibility and a range of offerings not previously possible for travelers.
Perhaps a victim of its own success, by 2022 supply of Airbnb-listed properties began to outstrip demand in some markets, as hosts overestimated the appetite for domestic travel. However, the company is still posting strong financials and has unveiled new tools to support its hosts in a tougher rental market. With a healthy bottom line and a huge user base, Airbnb is very likely to overcome the current market turbulence and continue its growth.
