Company mission
Zapier's mission is to Make Automation Work for Everyone!
Role
Who you are
- You can take a UI frame or a brand brief and turn it into a story that lands. You ask the right questions, understand the product well enough to know what the animation needs to communicate, and don't wait for a fully baked storyboard to get started
- You think in systems. You build mogrts files, component libraries, and motion guidelines that other people can use independently, and every project is an opportunity to make the next one ship faster
- You understand brand as well as UI: timing, easing, personality, the emotional register that makes motion feel ownable rather than generic
- You have a strong sense of sound and rhythm. You know how motion and sound work together, and you shape that relationship intentionally rather than as an afterthought
- You understand narrative. You think about motion the way a director thinks about a scene: setup, tension, resolution. You know when to breathe and when to accelerate, and you can articulate that thinking to stakeholders
- You manage up with creative insight, bringing your expertise into conversations proactively so stakeholders understand the why behind every creative choice
- You use AI as a genuine part of your practice, experimenting with video tools and sharing what you figure out so the whole team benefits
- You're energized by ambiguity, move fast, and don't wait for perfect conditions
- We're looking for the best fit for each of our roles, regardless of the type of companies in your background, so we encourage you to apply even if your skills and experiences don’t exactly match the job description
What the job involves
- We're looking for a Motion Designer to join Brand Studio, the creative team behind how Zapier shows up in the world
- Brand Studio is a small, high-ownership team embedded in Marketing, working at the intersection of brand, product, and enterprise positioning
- We care deeply about craft, think strategically about systems, and move fast when the moment calls for it
- In this role you'll work closely with a team of brand designers and design ops, collaborate cross-functionally with PMM, Product Design, Web, and Social, and partner with external agencies on bigger productions
- You'll help define how Zapier moves across every surface, and build the systems and tooling that let the whole org ship motion work independently without Brand Studio in the room every time
- Design and produce motion across product explainers, website animations, paid social video snippets, keynote and event motion, and campaign assets
- Draft simple storyboards yourself for straightforward projects so we can move fast without a separate brief-to-board cycle
- Work directly from UI frames provided by the product team to build polished product demo animations and feature explainers
- Build Zapier's motion design language: ownable branded motion patterns that establish how Zapier feels in motion across every surface
- Create motion guidelines, component libraries, and mogrts files that give partners and social teams repeatable building blocks to work from independently
- Explore tools like Jitter and Figma Motion to enable partners to generate on-brand animated assets without Brand Studio involvement every time
- Produce short video snippets for paid social testing across multiple angles and formats
- Support the recurring product video format and turn it into a scalable template for future launches
Application process
- Deadline to Apply: October 31, 2026 at 7:00 AM GMT+0
- After you apply, you are going to hear back from us—even if we don’t see an immediate fit with our team. In fact, throughout the process, we strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application. We know we’ll make mistakes from time to time, so if you ever have questions about where you stand or about the process, just ask your recruiter!
Our take
Even before remote working became the "in thing", freelancers, small business owners, and large organisations have found themselves needing more and more software platforms to serve their operational needs. As people used more software services, Zapier founders saw the need to connect the actions between these software and save everyone some time.
Zapier is the largest integration and automation tool for businesses. Since its founding, Zapier has grown its suite of automation offerings across almost every mainstream software service. The company is one of the most successful to come out of Y Combinator and has also been a pioneer of remote working.
Zapier has so far been able to capitalise heavily on its advantage as one of the first entrants and has had very little actual competition. Software services aren't going anywhere anytime soon, and organisations are only going to need more of them. This puts Zapier in a strong position for growth, but also opens up room for bolder companies to get in on the action. Companies like Airtable and Integromat are already preying on more niche segments of Zapier's market share.

Additional info
- As a fully remote company with 800+ team members across 40+ states, 38 countries, and 18+ timezones, we’ve adopted a culture of asynchronous work. This work style allows teams to collaborate effectively across locations, time zones, skills, and each individual’s energy levels, and empowers employees to work in a setting that fits their needs. In practice, we live on Slack, with most conversations in public channels. It mimics the open-office feel and allows everyone to search the chat logs if they need to find something that happened when they weren’t around
