Who you are
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering
- 2+ years of engineering management experience
- Strong background in distributed systems, APIs, and infrastructure at scale
- Deep understanding of high-quality code and robust engineering processes
- Execution-focused, able to deliver results amid ambiguity
- Capable of balancing long-term vision with immediate priorities
- Hands-on technical ability when required
- Genuine passion for building secure and reliable financial infrastructure for the digital asset ecosystem
Desirable
- Experience working with blockchain protocols (e.g. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Proof-of-Stake networks)
- Crypto-native fluency: comfortable interacting with addresses, validators, dApps, and other on-chain services
- Experience building high-throughput distributed systems or data pipelines
- Track record of instilling high operational standards

What the job involves
- We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Lead with a strong distributed systems background and a track record of building platform teams
- You’ll lead a high-performing group responsible for turning blockchain infrastructure into simple, scalable, and secure platform APIs that serve all of BitGo’s staking products
- Build, lead, and scale engineering teams focused on staking services and infrastructure
- Coach and mentor engineers, supporting career growth while driving measurable organizational impact
- Partner with product managers, designers, and leadership to translate vision into quarterly roadmaps. Break down complex projects into iterative milestones and lead delivery
- Make thoughtful architectural decisions, uphold engineering best practices, and foster a culture of high-quality code
- Own the design, delivery, and operation of distributed, multi-tenanted systems at scale
- Collaborate closely with recruiting to identify and attract world-class engineering talent
- Drive operational excellence and ensure platform services meet rigorous SLAs
- Roll up your sleeves when needed — from reviewing designs and code to triaging incidents or joining on-call rotations

The digital asset industry is maturing, with asset companies looking to shore up their positions by adding secure custody capabilities. This is good news for BitGo, an independent, regulated cryptocurrency custodian company providing security, custody, and liquidity solutions.
BitGo’s flagship multi-signature wallet solution helps its clients mitigate risk and optimize capital efficiency. The company has subsequently expanded to also cover a number of areas that are critical for any holder of major crypto assets - like portfolio and tax management. In this, BitGo was smart to focus exclusively on institutional clients: there’s huge appetite among larger players to expedite the mainstreaming of crypto, and they’ll need precisely BitGo’s tools to get there.
BitGo was in talks to be acquired by PayPal, and most recently Galaxy Digital, which speaks to a strong institutional confidence in the crypto wave. In spite of a rocky 2024 for the digital assets (which now sees BitGo suing Galaxy Digital for pulling out of the acquisition deal), BitGo has manoeuvred itself into a central position to capitalise on what, now, seems a near-inevitable period of mass adoption. Exemplifying this, the BitGo Ventures wing of the company was launched in 2024 to partner with and invest in cutting-edge blockchain and fintech startups, whilst the company saw revenue rocket to $4.19 billion in H1 2025. It's now gearing up for an IPO bid, which is fitting considering its growth.
