Role
Who you are
- 3+ years of experience in onboarding, event coordination, talent management, or a related area
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across teams and engage with new hires
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with ATS, HRIS or onboarding management software
- Experience with analyzing data and reporting (e.g., survey results) to inform decision-making and process improvements
- Ability to proactively identify issues and implement solutions to improve the onboarding experience and front desk operations
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Flexible and open to change, with a willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities as needed
- Meticulous in executing tasks and maintaining accurate records and reporting
What the job involves
- We are seeking a dedicated and proactive People & Culture Specialist to enhance our onboarding program and support front desk operations at our NYC headquarters. This role will ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new hires while also managing various front desk functions and coordinating in-office events
- Support the enhancement of the global onboarding experience for new hires
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver engaging in-person and asynchronous onboarding sessions and materials
- Facilitate a warm welcome for new hires during onboarding by creating a supportive and engaging environment, ensuring they are set up for success starting on day one!
- Continuously improve and enhance the onboarding program by regularly soliciting feedback from new hires, analyzing onboarding metrics, and implementing best practices to create a comprehensive and effective onboarding experience
- Serve as the primary monitor for work@vimeo.com inquiries, manage package receiving and act as the front door attendant for visitors
- Oversee operations on the Spaceti platform for the NYC headquarters
- Administer the NY HQ Slack channel (#34th-st-office) to facilitate effective communication
- Support with the planning, coordination, and facilitation of in-office events
- Provide assistance to Executive Assistants (EAs) during on-site events and initiatives
Our take
Vimeo was founded by filmmakers who wanted an efficient way to share videos with others. It is more creator-oriented than YouTube, with professional software, technology, and tools for creators to produce, share, and sell their videos.
In 2007, it became the first online video sharing site to support HD playback for consumers, updating to 4K playback in 2016. Vimeo's app has also been updated to allow recording and live streaming as well as watching video. This service is aimed predominantly at enterprise customers although they have millions of small-time users too.
Vimeo has risen to become the world's biggest ad-free open video platform, with significant funding that has allowed it to expand operations and build up the business. Recently, however, the company has found itself struck by the effects of the economic downturn felt by much of the industry, and has been forced to reduce its workforce - a step taken to ensure it comes out of this rough time "a stronger company". On top of this, it received a hefty fine for failure to remove copyrighted content back in 2019, after losing an appeal against the initial ruling.
In 2024, Vimeo is rumoured to be in the process of acquisition by leading mobile app developer Bending Spoons, which could signify a major shift in the tech landscape.
