Role
Who you are
- Work experience startups; additional experience in larger companies is a plus
- * Good verbal and written communication skills
- * Proven experience in backend development using Go (Golang) or other relevant programming languages
- * Familiarity with Identity and Access Management concepts is a plus
- * Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) is a plus
- * Understanding of security best practices for web applications and backend systems
- * Knowledge of RESTful and gRPC API design and implementation
- * Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML2.0 or related specifications is a plus
- * Knowledge Eventsourcing and CQRS is a plus
- * Knowledge of Postgresql is a plus
- Passion for cyber security or identity management
- * Communicate in public over Github and Chat
- * Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions
- * Passion for contributing to open-source projects and willingness to share knowledge

What the job involves
- Backend Engineer wanted to join our team. Build a scalable and secure identity and access management platform with event sourcing
- As a Backend Engineer at ZITADEL, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining the core infrastructure of our cutting-edge Identity and Access Management (IAM) platform
- You will work with a team of talented engineers and our community to build scalable, secure, and reliable backend systems that power ZITADEL's diverse range of features and services
- This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an open-source project that empowers developers and organizations to manage user identities effectively
- * Collaborating with the team to design, develop, and implement new backend features and services for ZITADEL
- * Participating in code reviews and assisting in support inquiries and bug fixing
- * Optimizing backend systems for scalability, performance, and efficiency to ensure smooth operation under high traffic and demand
- * Implementing and maintenance of standards such as OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.X and SAML2.0
- * Collaborating effectively with frontend engineers, DevOps, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
- * Implementing robust security measures and ensuring the reliability of backend services to protect user data and maintain platform integrity
- * Writing unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and troubleshoot issues to maintain system stability
- * Actively contributing to the ZITADEL open-source community by sharing knowledge and expertise
- * Participate in on-call rotation to ensure system uptime and resolve critical incidents

Identity infrastructure - used to manage digital identities and online access to companies - is, by its very nature, cut off from other company processes. The necessity of privacy can lead to siloed processes leaving less space for collaboration. That’s why Zitadel wants to provide a unified, transparent and customisable open-source identity platform.
Zitadel’s identity management platform is built upon its native “Go Programming” language and is an open-source project, making it fully customisable and scaleable. To date, the company has over a million downloads, over 200 contributors and 160 enterprise customers. It features customisable login pages, self-hosted security options and foundational layers for full security autonomy.
This approach is interesting because it has the potential to give teams across operations, development and security more space to collaborate. Seed funding awarded to the company in 2024 will be used to boost product development as well as expand Zitadel's team.
