Who you are
- This role is perfect for an independent, thoughtful designer who thrives on rapid iteration, values user feedback, and is excited about building innovative solutions in a fast-growing startup environment where design has a seat at the leadership table
- Strong portfolio demonstrating deep systems thinking, visual craft, and an ability to translate ambiguous problems into practical user-centric solutions
- 5-7+ years of experience as a product designer, with additional involvement leading company-wide design initiatives
- Strong ability to articulate design decisions and communicate complex concepts clearly through compelling storytelling
- Strong collaboration abilities with other designers, product managers, and engineers, including exposure to mentoring more junior designers
- Expertise in Figma, UX research methods, writing product specifications, creating interactive prototypes, and conducting design reviews
- Ability to explore multiple design solutions broadly before focusing deeply on the most promising approaches
- Conscientious advocate for product quality and achievement of user-oriented goals

- We're seeking a Product Design Lead who shares this passion for crafting exceptional user experiences in the complex world of B2B integrations
- You'll join a collaborative team where you'll have significant autonomy to shape our product's future, champion user needs, and deliver elegant solutions to challenging problems.
- As a core member of our Product & Design team, you'll have the unique opportunity to evolve our design processes, own end-to-end projects, and make a lasting impact on our product's direction.
- Lead design and user experience for our core product; own and develop the design process from product prioritization through launch
- Be very opinionated, sweat the details, strive for simplicity, and relentlessly push the broader team around you to uphold an exceptionally high design standard
- Work directly with our founders, product, engineering, and marketing to transform company strategy into clear roadmap initiatives
- Leverage a direct line with customers to create and iterate on designs, using high-fidelity prototypes to identify friction points and opportunities for improvement
- Create and implement a scalable design vision, principles, and processes that uphold our high quality standards as we grow
- Proactively identify opportunities for product improvements and drive design initiatives independently
- Champion consistent application of design principles across products while continuously evolving our design system
Our take
Merge API helps B2B companies navigate the increasing number of APIs needed to integrate SaaS products. Its unified API provides access to dozens of payroll, recruiting, accounting, and HR platforms using a single integration layer. It also offers integration management tools. Together, these features are designed to help businesses work with a large number of APIs without compromising on efficiency.
Merge was founded in 2020 and has already built a large client base for itself, including Deed, AngelList, Ramp and Reachdesk. It has also expanded into new areas, providing support for CRM tools, ticketing systems and project management functions.
After increasing annual revenue by over 30 times in 2022, Merge raised investment funds in a Series B round led by Accel. The company is utilizing this influx of funding to hire additional talent and build out its product into new verticals such as an on-premises offering for enterprises.
