Role
Who you are
- HR & Industry Expertise: Degree in HR (preferred) or Business, Psychology, or a related field. CIPD accreditation is a plus
- Regional Knowledge: 4+ years of experience in UK & Irish HR practices (bonus if you have US experience too)
- Industry Fit: Background in med-tech, technology, or life sciences—essential for our growth stage
- Startup & Scaling Experience: Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments
- Hands-On HR Expertise: 4+ years as an HR Manager or HR Generalist, comfortable executing autonomously with a problem-solving mindset
- Employee HR Lifecycle - including Experience in effective management of employee relations and conflict management, performance management, Career Path & career development frameworks, Learning & development, employee engagement etc.
- HR Policy & Compliance: Skilled in developing, implementing, and refining HR policies across regions
- Proficient in HRIS systems (admin console access & support) and Google Suite (BambooHR experience a distinct advantage.)
- Ability to travel in the role as mentioned above

- Be the go-to person for employee support, tackling challenges as they arise and proactively checking in to keep teams engaged
- Handle sensitive people issues with confidence—resolving conflicts, managing performance concerns, and ensuring fair, effective outcomes. (including disciplinary procedures, conflict resolutions, terminations etc. taking compl;ete ownership for delivery of the end to end process)
- Help managers set clear expectations and support team members in reaching their full potential
- Lead the way in performance improvements—creating tailored plans that help employees level up and contribute at their best
- Make sure new hires hit the ground running with a structured probation process that sets them up for long-term success
- Design and roll out career development frameworks and progression mapping for employees across all locations). so every employee knows how they can progress and grow with us
- Design and roll out impactful training programs that equip our teams with the skills needed to excel
- Create and own the development of comprehensive learning frameworks for each department, drive effective adoption of learning platforms and design and implement bespoke Deciphex training programs on various topics as needs arise
- Ensure training isn’t just a check box - track engagement, measure impact, and adapt to evolving needs
- Champion continuous learning by embedding a culture of growth across all departments
- Own employee engagement—rolling out eNPS and various engagement surveys, gathering real insights, and turning feedback into meaningful action, which you'll then implement
- Build initiatives that bring teams together, strengthen culture, and make work a place people want to be. (e.g. Lead DEI/ CSG activities, social initiatives etc.)
- Recognize and celebrate achievements, ensuring employees feel valued and motivated
- Ensure HR compliance and policies are seamless, supportive, making life easier, not harder. (across regions)
- Take ownership of HR policy development and handbook updates across all regions
- Keep HR records and processes organized, efficient, and scalable as we grow
- Partner with leadership to shape best-in-class people strategies that fuel business success
- Lead the entire employee journey—from onboarding that makes a lasting first impression to smooth, respectful offboarding when it’s time to move on
- Develop retention strategies that continue to help us retain and reward the best
Our take
Pathologists are the core of diagnostics, but face increasing pressure as diagnostic complexity increases and the number of pathologists is in decline. This systemic strain means turnaround times for diagnoses are longer, and the chance of diagnostic error is higher. Deciphex is looking to address this with a regulated non-clinical pathology platform.
Deciphex has institutional and headline support, has collaborated with AstraZeneca and Janssen, and participates in a research program with pharmaceutical company Charles River. Reports suggest the platform has seen impressive uptake in the preclinical sector, so in spite of being relatively young this specialist niche is in high demand.
This all means Deciphex is in a strong position to keep expanding out its suite of tools and platforms. Its latest round of funding will support expansion across the US, UK, EU, Canada, and Japan. The company is also looking to enhance its capabilities, strengthen existing partnerships and broaden the type of customer it serves.
